The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday that California will travel to Wake Forest on Friday, Nov. 8, for the first meeting between the two schools on the gridiron. Tuesday's announcement was part of the unveiling of the league's 2024 Thursday and Friday specialty games beyond Week 1. The conference's three-day 2024 football schedule unveiling began Monday with Week 0 and Week 1 contests and will conclude Wednesday, when the full schedule is released. Kickoff times and television networks will be announced at later dates.

The ACC Huddle: 2024 Football Schedule Release Show on the ACC Network and ESPN2 will provide extensive coverage of the full schedule announcement Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m. PT. All announcements are also being featured on the ACC Network's ACC PM and are part of a full week of football coverage and commentary that will include interviews with all 17 ACC head football coaches on the ACC Network and ACC Sirius XM.

The ACC announced its future football schedule model for the next seven seasons last October. Cal will host four ACC opponents in 2024 – the Golden Bears' inaugural season in the conference – with Miami, North Carolina State, Stanford and Syracuse visiting California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. In addition to the Nov. 8 contest at Wake Forest, Cal's first slate of ACC road games includes trips to Florida State, Pittsburgh and SMU.

Posted this on another thread earlier, but any likelihood this means we will also have a road game on 11/2, at the closest venue (which would be FSU)? Makes sense logistically as it would allow 2 games within 7 days. Team and equipment could stay there, bus between, etc. Anyhow, I booked my FSU hotel today for that 11/2 weekend, just in case. Go Bears!

My nieces husband is a Wake Forest grad and a Presbyterian minister. I think I'll make a wager. If Cal wins, he has to give his Sunday sermon wearing a Cal hat.

Beautiful small campus next to a golf course. Wake Forest is the smallest school in the ACC with an enrollment half the size of Stanford.

Has Cal ever played WF in football (or basketball for that matter)?

As far as I can tell from the sports-reference sites, Cal has never played Wake Forest in football. We have a 2-1 record against Wake Forest in basketball since the 1949-50 season. I couldn't find out when those games were played.

It appears that we haven't played football against Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina State and Virginia. In basketball, it appears that we haven't played Miami or North Carolina State, at least not since 1949-50.

Been there twice for basketball. Cal played at WF in 1993 and eked out a win. Some random freshman from the Caribbean for Wake looked fantastic though, some guy named Tim Duncan.

We also played (and beat) Princeton at WF in the 1997 regionals.

Wasn't Hart Ortman a transfer from Wake Forest?
