Bears Move to 7-1 after 3-1 Win Over Sac State

BERKELEY -  The Bears came into their Tuesday night game at Evans Diamond on a roll with their 4-game win streak and they stayed hot with a 3-1 victory over Sac State under clear skies and chilly temps in Berkeley to move to 7-1 on the season.

Promising frosh Quinn Larson got the start for the second straight Tuesday. The big righty wasn’t sharp with his command with 4 walks, 2 hit batters and 2 hits but his 6 strikeouts kept the Hornets off the board in his 3.2 scoreless innings.

The Bears were only able to put up a single run on a Caleb Lomavita 1^st inning homer - his fourth of the young season - on starter Andrew Overland and reliever Xavier Richards but came to life in the 6^th with a Carson Crawford blast to left center and a Jared Advincula RBI single to knock in Alec Ritch who doubled the previous at bat. 

Frosh pitcher Oliver Boone was strong in relief, going 4 solid innings with 5 strikeouts, 2 hits, 1 run on a sac fly and 1 walk. The first of the two hits was a screaming liner up the box that struck him. The righty was able to shake it off and remain on the mound and pitch effectively four more innings.

Pitcher Tucker Bougie came in for the save in the 9^th, his first of the season for the Bears.

The Bears will next head to Las Vegas this weekend to face Ohio State Friday at 6 in the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic.
