Cal did manage to lose its sixth straight game Saturday night, falling to 16th ranked Arizona State 81-73 at Haas Pavilion.

But if the Bears had played the previous five games with the spirit and gumption they showed against the Sun Devils, they might have won a game or two along the way. They spotted Arizona State a 16-point lead in the first half, trailed by 11 at intermission and then with determined defense and timely shooting they made a game of it.
