Cal Shows Improvement in Loss

January 20, 2018

Cal did manage to lose its sixth straight game Saturday night, falling to 16th ranked Arizona State 81-73 at Haas Pavilion.

But if the Bears had played the previous five games with the spirit and gumption they showed against the Sun Devils, they might have won a game or two along the way. They spotted Arizona State a 16-point lead in the first half, trailed by 11 at intermission and then with determined defense and timely shooting they made a game of it.

Marcus Lee, the graduate transfer from Kentucky who has had his troubles recently, had probably his best game of the year, tying his season high with 23 points grabbing eight rebounds and almost single-handedly keeping Cal in the game in the first half.
