Buchanan, Williams Earn ACC Weekly Honors

BERKELEY – Teddye Buchanan (Linebacker) and Nohl Williams (Defensive Back) both earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances in Cal's road victory at Auburn the conference announced on Monday.   

Buchanan stuffed the stat sheet for the Golden Bears on Saturday, recording a team-high 11 tackles, three for loss – including two sacks – while also forcing a fumble. The native of San Francisco and graduate transfer from UC Davis also had two hurries of Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne.

Williams notched two interceptions in the 21-14 win over the Tigers, with his second pick coming at 2:15 of the fourth quarter when Auburn was trying to drive for a potential game-tying touchdown. The Oxnard native returned his two interceptions for 14 yards and also recorded two tackles.

The two weekly honors are Cal's first as a member of the ACC and are the first conference honors at Cal for both Buchanan and Williams.

The Bears (2-0) return home to California Memorial Stadium on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. PT kickoff vs. San Diego State on ESPN.
