Cal To Play UNLV In LA Bowl

December 8, 2024
5,963

The California football team has accepted an invitation to play in the Art of Sport LA Bowl hosted by Gronk on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The Golden Bears (6-6) will meet No. 24 UNLV (10-3), the Mountain West Conference runner-up. The game will air on ESPN and begins at 6 p.m. PT.

"We appreciate the opportunity to play another game together this season and would like to thank the LA Bowl for selecting us," Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox said. "Playing in a bowl game is a reward for hard work throughout the season and we are excited to play in front of our Cal Family in Southern California."

Season ticket holders have until tonight at 11:59 p.m. PT to secure their priority selection for the Art of Sport LA Bowl.

Log in to your account.

Click Application under My Tickets.

Click 2024 Bowl Games – New Application.

Art of Sport LA Bowl tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, December 9, at 9 a.m. and can be purchased here: https://calbears.evenue.net/list/FB

Cal will play in a second consecutive bowl game for the first time since 2018-19 after participating in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl last season. The Bears defeated Illinois in the Redbox Bowl in 2019 and played in the Cheez-It Bowl in 2018. The LA Bowl will mark the fourth time Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox has led Cal to a bowl game, and it's the 26th bowl appearance in program history. The Bears are 12-12-1 all-time in bowl games.

The Bears and Rebels have faced off just once before on the football field with Cal beating UNLV 20-14 on Sept. 10, 2022, in Berkeley.

If The Travers family owns the head coach, maybe they could fire him?

Do we have any idea who the OC will be for the game or when we'll find that out?

I just find it interesting that Travers family is inserted before head coach.

They are an extremely loyal and generous family.
Maybe you can drop $30M and they can call it the Oskidunker family coach.

Trace was particularly good cause he was raised a cal fan from a young age. A lot of the w4C guys or the calgorithm guys have no knowledge of anything that happened pre-tedford. Not that thats inherently bad, it just made trace particularly more informed for his age group

With Odom and Marion (and other coaches?) gone and the WR coach leading the team for the LA Bowl, seems like a great shot for Wilcox to have his first winning season in five years.

Good luck. It's so bad it's like Cal doesn't want people to buy tickets.

I just thought I'd point out that LA Bowl is French for THE Bowl.*

* If you ignore spelling and whether a bowl is masculine or feminine.

I hope someone at Cal is working on fixing it. It lists a lot of bowl games with LA at the top but no way to select a section or to know the pricing.

Has anyone been able to select tickets?

You obviously haven't followed Cal football very closely during the Wilcox era.

There are plenty of fire Wilcox posts, I get it, but this isn't one.

The deadline for season ticket holders to get ticket priority is 11:59 tonight, yet I still haven't received any email from Cal about the bowl selection and tickets. But then I've *ONLY* been a season ticket holder for about 25 years...
Have any of you season ticket holders received an email from Cal today announcing this? Why does Cal marketing suck so much?

I did not get an email either. These are the steps, but I do not see how you select what type of tickets you want.

Google "sucks" and it takes you to "Cal Marketing".

Fortunately for UC Berkeley, few business school applicants associate "Cal" with Haas School of Business.

Go Bears!

Best to get your tickets through Ticketmaster or a broker. They have better seats available than you can get through the Cal AD.
