The Bears began their running back room rebuild after the departure of the majority of their RB room, adding UTSA soph running back Brandon High through the portal.
The 5-10/215 Texas native had a productive redshirt frosh season, rushing for 495 yards and 8 TDs in 93 carries (5.3 ypc) as a redshirt frosh in 2024.
High will be reunited with RB coach Julian Griffin at Cal after his move from UTSA.
“With Coach Griffin, what I like most is how real he is,” High noted. “And I think Cal is the best fit because of the opportunities and all the legends that have attended the school before me.”
As a prep player at Conroe Grand Oaks High School, High was injured after rushing for 262 yards and 2 TDs in his season opener as a senior and rushed for 1,085 yards and 15 TDs as a junior, being named All-District and a prestigious UnderArmour All-American. He chose UTSA over Colorado, SMU, TCU and more.
High will take his official visit to Cal this weekend. Stay tuned for more on his commitment.
