In the midst of a flurry of transfer portal signings, the Bears picked up their second 2026 commitment in the last week with the addition of high 3 star MLB Jaxon Pyatt‍.

The 6-2/210 Arvada West High School rising senior was named 1st team All-State by the Denver Post and also added Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in his stat sheet stuffing junior season where he added 140 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and an interception.

"Cal felt like the perfect fit from the start, Pyatt said. "The culture, the people, and their proven ability to develop linebackers for the next level really stood out to me. On top of that, the academics are elite. Earning a degree from Cal sets you up for life.

"My relationship with Coach Bruno has been strong since day one. He’s real, brings great energy, and truly believes in me.

"I’d describe my playing style as instinctive, physical, and relentless I love to lead, set the tone, and make an impact every snap."

Pyatt combines his that aggressive style of play with strong measurables, clocking an impressive 4.56 forty and squatting an also impressive 585 lbs and 375 bench press in the offseason.

The newest Bear joins 4 star Georgia edge Camron Brooks‍ as recent commits to the Bears, bringing their total number of prep recruits committed for 2026 to six along with fellow linebacker Jonathan McKinley‍, cornerbacks Jayden Crowder‍ and Deon Jackson‍ as well as offensive lineman Artem Korchagin‍, who committed to Cal in April.

The Bears beat out Ole Miss, Syracuse, Boston College, Kansas State and more for Pyatt’s services.
