“I liked Cal fom the first time I came to a game there (Cal vs Miami),” Santino said. “Driving down sorority row and seeing the school spirit in full effect caught my attention, then to see the stadium packed and people from young to old with a lot of school spirit cheering was a good feeling and I definitely wanted to be a part of something like that. It felt like home. The scenery was different and it felt like I was around people that cared about me.
“The coaching staff was very welcoming and positive Coach Griffin is honest and understanding so that means a lot and Coach Harsin is a great guy and I like that he spoke to me in a cool, calm way. The whole coaching staff were fun to be around.
“I didn’t know that the campus was so open and big and had so many trees. I like that a lot. It’s a place I can see myself at for life after football.”
The newest Bear also had the chance to visit for Cal’s inspiring Big Game win over Stanford last November and came away impressed.
“It was a great experience I didn’t know that Berkeley was so different from Los Angeles .. to see the whole community behind the school and so pumped up for GameDay, then to see them fully engaged in the game and game time chants was really cool,” Santino said.
Santino holds offers from Miami, Oregon, Utah, Washington, TCU and more. He joins fellow OV commit Elisha Faamatuainu (Rancho Murrieta OT) along with prior 2026 commits OL Artem Korchagin, 4 star edge Camron Brooks, high 3 star LBs Jaxon Pyatt and Jonathan McKinley (also visiting this weekend) and 3 star DBs Jayden Crowder and Deon Jackson.
Stay tuned for more on this weekend’s visits along with the identity of Cal’s third official visitor commitment coming soon.
