Bears add Hawaii QB Nainoa Lopes
The Bears stayed on their recruiting roll, picking up their third commitment from their recent recruiting weekend and 19th overall with the addition of 2026 QB Nainoa Lopes today.
"Every part of my visit checked off boxes I had on my list, from the entire coaching staff to facilities and of course the prominence of a Cal Berkeley degree. The Polynesian connection on the coaching staff & roster also felt like an extension of home.
"It was a great visit! They treated me and my family great and I know that is part of the process but they really have a good bunch of guys on the coaching staff. I felt very welcomed by them all. Coach Harsin was great to meet with. He drilled me on my film and he wants to get to know my process on my reads. We are still learning about each other but he seems like a great guy to learn from. Coach Rolo has always been someone I wanted to meet since he was at UH. He's an awesome coach and person. "
The 6-4/195 St. Louis/Honolulu 3 star QB picked up an offer from Cal in late May. As a junior, Lopes had 19 TDs and 8 INT for 2,055 yards along with 187 yards on the ground and 3 additional TDs.
