If Saturday’s 68-51 loss to Washington at Haas Pavilion was the only Cal game you saw this season, you would still have a pretty good idea why the Bears are 8-21 overall and 2-14 in the Pac-12.

And also you have an idea why the future might not be entirely bleak.

There have been different specific issues during the course of this dreadful year, and not every loss was for the same reason. But the general pattern in Saturday’s loss has been present pretty much all season.
