The Bears picked up their second commitment of the 2026 transfer portal class in South Dakota offensive tackle Jacob Arop.
“The culture that is being built with the new staff that is coming in makes it all special about what is going on at Cal,” Arop said. “Just feels like there’s gonna be something special going on in Berkeley this year and I just wanted to be apart of that!”
The 6-6/300 redshirt frosh OT was a 4 star prospect out of Bellevue West (Bellevue, Nebraska) and was a 2-sport star, also playing for the 2-time state champs on the hardwood, earning HM All-State. On the gridiron, Arop allowed zero sacks and had more than 40 pancake blocks his final two seasons.
As a redshirt frosh this season, Arop helped lead the Coyotes to a 10-5 record and a spot in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs, starting 10 games. The RS frosh earned Offensive Line Player of the Week during the 2025 season as well.
