JKS gets solid grades for 2025. The highest scores came at the most important times. Rolo’s QB has a high ceiling in 2026.
I had a chance meeting at the Wynn-Las Vegas last week with three well compensated UNLV football players. How do I know? The bartender wasn’t serving up Kingfish prices.
Justin Flowe, R-SR OLB, played under Tosh for one year at Oregon before transferring to Arizona and finally UNLV in 2025. A 5 Star recruit from Upland High School, Flowe has had some moments. Justin looks forward to Cal’s visit and his chance meeting with JKS. I hope not.
Mumu Bin-Wahad, R-JR, CB, played for West Virginia and Connecticut before transferring to UNLV in 2025. Bin Wahad was a 3 star prospect from Atlanta. Has connections to Cal DB Coach and co-DC, Da’Von Brown. Had a good, not great season last year for the Rebels. He welcomes the opportunity to cover Cal’s best.
Troy Stellato R-SR WR, played for Dabo at Clemson for three years, last year at Kentucky before transferring to UNLV in 2026. He was a 4 star out of high school. From Miami, knows Fernando. His Clemson years were his best: 600 total receiving yards, but he was often injured. I did not have a long conversation with Troy, but he told my wife he is investing his resources wisely.
In case you’re interested, UNLV is an early favorite to win the MWC. UNLV’s 2026 non-conference schedule includes Cal, Memphis, North Texas and Akron with challenging conference contests against Hawaii, New Mexico and Air Force, all on the road.

David Cobb, CBS Sports Analyst, grades all incoming P4 coaches’ rosters. No surprise, Cal and Stanford are moving in different directions.
Grading college football rosters for Year 1 coaches: Pete Golding, Ole Miss earn top marks
P4 total football spend is well beyond the revenue share targets prescribed in the House settlement. NIL is augmenting rev share in ways few people anticipated. The NIL market is projected to reach $4B+ this year, a 50% increase over previous estimates per Opendorse, a NIL Technology company. Roster values are skyrocketing and the SEC/B1G lead the way. The ACC and Big 12 have some catching up to do. In this environment, the G6 likely never will.
The 247Sports Composite rankings are a staple in college recruiting, compiling ratings from 247 Sports, On3 and ESPN. Each service accounts for one-third of the formula but the On3 add/Rivals drop in 2025 did have an impact in some player ratings with an associated impact on team ratings. I think I read some growls on BI about this last year.
Why the 247Sports Composite rankings changed and how team standings are affected
Dane Weber, Cal’s 2027 4 star QB commit, is on the recruiting trail. He is relentless, particularly with the high value targets. Learned from the best. The next Bears’ QB also received a bump in ratings by 247 and is now a composite 4 star recruit.
Chris Bell, who prepped at De La Salle and finished his productive college career at Cal, just signed a free agent contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. John Camden signed a summer-league contract with the Washington Wizards. Happy for these Bears!
