Cal staged its second workout of the spring Wednesday, a spirited two-hour session under cloudy but dry skies at Memorial Stadium.

But just as everyone was getting back into a football mentality, the Bears hit the pause button for spring break. Practice resumes two weeks hence with the first of 13 more official sessions on April 4.

Defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter believes the hiatus will not impede the teams progress.
