New Cal Kickers Putting Best Foot Forward

March 27, 2018

Unlike most skill areas where the Cal football team returns players who made major contributions a year ago, the Bears must replace both their 2017 placekicker and punter.

Matt Anderson, who handled the placekicking duties the last three years and leaves as the school’s all-time leading scorer, has exhausted his eligibility. Dylan Klumph, the punter the last two seasons, will graduate in May and transfer to Arizona where he will be eligible immediately.

The Bears do have replacement candidates, and while they do not have a lot of experience in Berkeley, they are not new to the program.
