Cal’s baseball team, which faces No. 2 Stanford in a three-game series starting tonight in Palo Alto, has won four consecutive Pac-12 series and boasts one of the, if not the, top offensive players in college baseball.

So how come the Bears (23-5, 9-9 Pac-12) are just eight games over .500 two-thirds of the way into the season and are mired in the middle of the conference standings? If coach Mike Neu had an answer he would have employed it a long time ago.
