Cal’s path to defending its national championship in rugby is easier, at least geographically, than it was a week ago. Shortly after defeating Navy, 33-27, in last week’s quarterfinal in Berkeley, the Bears learned that USA Rugby shuffled the brackets.

Instead of having to travel 2,100 miles by air to Georgia for their semifinal match Saturday, the Bears will go about 15 miles by bus.
