6-4/305 Eisenhower (Rialto, CA) High School offensive guard Sataoa Laumea took a visit North to check out Cal's spring game last Saturday with his family and the visit kept the Bears high on the big 2-way player's favorites list.

"I really liked it, " said Laumea.  "I enjoyed the practice and I think the thing I enjoyed the most was meeting the players, especially the linemen. I talked to Patrick Mekari and Mike Saffell. They told me lots of great stuff about the school."

Veteran offensive line coach Steve Greatwood has built a solid relationship with the 3 star Laumea so far in his recruitment.

"I'm pretty close with Coach Greatwood," said Laumea. "I have a good connection with him."

The trip North was the first time Laumea had a chance to get a broader view of the Bay Area after visiting Concord briefly once before.

"I like the Bay Area," said Laumea. "It's really cool. I like the campus a lot, too. I got a tour from from Coach Benji (Palu). My parents loved it up there, too, and they liked talking to the coaches."

Laumea has his sights set on making a decision early to be able to focus on Eisenhower's season in his senior year.

"I'm thinking about making a commitment sometime before the summer's over," said Laumea.  "I think the bond with the players and the right feel are probably the things that will be most important for me in making my choice."

Laumea has Pac-12 offers from Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State as well as Nebraska, Virginia, Boise State, Harvard and more.
