The Bears were back in action at Memorial Stadium this afternoon, in regular season practice number seven.

Noteable quotes from DC Tim DeRuyter

  • On playing faster this year: “If you look at a lot of our veterans  right now, they are playing much faster then they were at any point last year.”
  • On UNC’s QB Nathan Elliot: “He's a leader, he’s a gamer. He is a guy, just like the other quarterbacks, who can beat you with his feet.”
  • On guarding wideout #17 Anthony Ratliff-Williams: “We have a plan for him, and our guys are going to know where 17 is because he is a go-to guy for them.”
  • On Camryn Bynum’s willingness to get better: “He does a great job of setting the standard, just because you are a good football player, that’s not good enough. Let's keep pushing. He very much takes that in and takes that as a challenge, and challenges himself every day and that’s why he is the player that he is.
  • On what he thinks of Zeandae Johnson: “Once he gets going, we know there is a lot of potential there.”

Noteable quotes from HC Justin Wilcox

  • On the difference in Ross Bowers from a year ago: “The command of the offense was much greater than a year ago. Living life like a quarterback in everything you do from the meeting room, weight room, school, and everything in between, so I think he has improved a lot.”
  • On Bowers first game last year: “I think that was telling, Ross is a tough guy, a competitor.”
  • On UNC’s front four: “The tackles and the ends, they are physically imposing guys who can run and disrupt a lot of plays, so they are talented there.”
