Tough loss. Honestly neither team looked very good. WSU might be the worst in the P12 North but that game was likely the battle for second worst.

We are the worst team in the P12 North and possibly the entire P12.

Beating Washington doesn't make them a good team, but what does losing to them make them?
Means they are about as good a team as Washington, not all that good.

Yes, we are about as good as Washington. Home field and refs gave them the edge. However we are both bottom half of the PAC-12 North. Oregon, Stanford and OSU all appear to be better. Jonathan Smith is doing what we pretended Wilcox was doing.
11-23 Johnathan Smith? Yeah I know it's Oregon State, but let's wait for him to win anything before we sing his praises.

Took over a horrible program, had a horrible first year but appears to actually be making gradual progress (what I keep hearing about Wilcox on this board). We will see where he ends up in this his 4th year. He has won the last two matchups with Wilcox and unless we beat the Ducks will be favored in their next. His recruiting is improving. And yes, it is Oregon State. He is definitely a good coach for them. Do you honestly think Wilcox would have done a better job at Oregon State than Jonathan Smith is doing?

That will be decided next week against WSU and in our game with Arizona. Maybe even Colorado. We may be just be bottom half, as we have been for a long time.

The trajectory looks good but it's just a trajectory, until you win it doesn't mean ***** Two years ago everyone was saying the same thing about Wilcox.

I saw some bad play calls, but a couple good calls involved Garbers...

One QB drop and then run

Second one... QB sweep then pitch

Interesting. I find that most Cal fans choose to watch the games. Tell us about your approach!

They said it, but it wasn't true. There was no improvement from 2017 to 2018 to 2019, except the schedule got easier and we beat an Illinois team with a losing record in the Redbox bowl instead of losing to TCU in the Cheezit bowl. The defense was declining and the offense was not improving. Recruiting was in the lower half of the PAC-12 when even Holmoe was in the top half, only this years class was rated highly.

Wilcox finally has an average offense, but now our defense has dropped to near-Dykes levels.

It could be argued that this choice was a mistake all along.

The decline on defense clearly shows Wilcox is not for for head coach. This is his expertise and should have had this side ready to go. Too young? New faces? Don't care - he should have been planning for all this.

It's looking like our poor 2020 season showing wasn't due to covid - it was actually 2021 playing out a year early and we mistakenly gave him a pass.

I hope things change the rest of the season ... What an opportunity we missed with the conference being particularly weak this year.
