Watching poorly coached football at this level is unacceptable.
What I don't understand is how Cal was such a well-coached team just 2 years ago. Losing Alexander and Greatwood should not have this kind of impact.

Deruyter was the key.
I thought DC's were more in charge of developing scheme, not teaching the fundamentals like discipline.
We had more upperclassmen on D in 2019, so maybe it was a more disciplined unit then.

But, it's not like this year's team is all freshmen. It's on them if the team discipline has fallen off.


Discipline starts at the top, the players are a reflection of their coach and coaching. Teammates will hold each other accountable, but it's up to the coaches to show and model discipline.
Don't let the players off the hook. They're not 9 years old. Expect more from them.

I would say our defense needs to get us a turnover, but we have to be within 5 yards of the receiver for that to happen, or not completely whiff sacking the qb everytime.
