One of today's two winners of the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, David Julius, is a Cal PhD alum and worked with Cal Prof. Randy Schekman, himself a Nobel Laureate, and Cal Prof. Jeremy Thorner. The Nobel was for work on how we sense temperature and touch.

Yep. He currently works at UCSF. And his co-winner is a UCLA grad working at Scripps.

The three dropouts are working with leading research institutions, including Stanford, UCSF, Cal, Harvard and MIT.
