I am not necessarily fan AR fan, per se. But AR served Cal well. He has continued to serve Cal well.

And he is entitled to his opinion whether y'all like it or not.

AR is still a good quarterback. He still leads what is a very good team (minus their special teams). And I'd be damn happy to have him on any team I was rooting for.

So, y'all want to hate on a man who stands for what he believes, serves his team and his university well, who as far as I can see has been a good citizen, and will go down as one of the greats both at Cal and at Green Bay. How stupid. I've seen toddlers react to disagreements better than some of those posting here.

Let's look at how much of a "good citizen" Rodgers has been:

On the November 23 edition of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers joked about having "COVID Toes."

The next day, Wall Street Journal reporter Andrew Beaton wrote this article:

To debunk the article, Rodgers showed his toe during a Packers press conference.

Then he called on Molly Knight to apologize.

Rodgers' teammate David Bakhtiari also called out Molly Knight.

Wait ... a second who is Molly Knight? She's an independent sports journalist who had nothing to do with The Wall Street Journal or that article.

As it turns out, the Wall Street Journal article sent the phrase "COVID Toe" trending on Twitter.

Molly Knight saw "COVID Toe" trending and clicked on it, then clicked on the Wall Street Journal story.

Then she, like many people, tweeted out a link to the story with the following joke:

Rodgers, according to ESPN, hadn't bothered to look at the article or its author.

The harassment against Knight was so scary that she had to flee her apartment.

Meanwhile, Rodgers didn't correct the record. It takes a few minutes to tweet out a correction. Instead, when he learned who the real author was (Andrew Beaton), he and Beaton had a "nice conversation" privately.

Asked about the incident, Rodgers, who hates cancel culture, thinks Knight deserved some of the blame for the story.

So the question has to be asked: Why would he go after Molly Knight. A lot of people were mocking Rodgers over the COVID Toe article, which is why it was trending on Twitter. A lot of people in the media. One NFL columnist for USA Today -- whom Rodgers follows on Twitter -- has poked fun at him and denounced a bunch of times these past few months and he's gotten know blowback.

Rodgers tried to say in an interview with Pat McAfee that she has tweeted (and deleted) other negative things about him. But there is no evidence of that. There are no screenshots. No proof.

The harassment Molly Knight received was reminiscent of what happens to people, specifically females, who criticize Barstool. I've seen other female sports journalists who go after Barstool get hit with an avalanche of harassment. Hell, I'm anonymous on Twitter, but when I've mentioned anything negative about Barstool, I get hit with a wave of "Stoolies." It's scary.

So it's been disconcerting seeing Aaron Rodgers closely associate his brand with not just Barstool*, but its founder Dave Portnoy, whose bread and butter is racism and misogyny.

So, why of all people would Rodgers go after Molly Knight? What made her different?

Well, what if you do a google search of Molly Knight and Barstool?

This is what Molly Knight tweeted a few weeks before the "COVID Toe" incident?

Could that be the connection?

In 2017, Rodgers sat down with ESPN's Mina Kimes. And during the course of their conversation, he discussed his relationship with Olivia Munn and called out misogyny.

Now, Rodgers has become close to a guy who is the poster boy for misogyny.

Rodgers can choose to be publicly associated with whoever he wants, but why this guy?

And that's why Rodgers is a "good citizen."

For now, I accept Rogan's apology for his bad choices in some older podcasts, doing the equivalent of reading dialogue from Pulp Fiction or lyrics from a rap song directly on a podcast without self-censoring. It would be the same if direct quoting the F-word (derogatory to gay males). Can't direct quote F-word in public unless you are specifically making a point about why it was bad for someone else to use that word, and even then you probably shouldn't. That said, the rules for the N-word when quoting occupies it's own tier in American culture, and understandably so.

His apology sounds sincere and I believe he understands that he was too late in practicing self-censorship when quoting.

Don't care about Portnoy enough to find out more about him. He seems like a jerk and I don't need extra supporting evidence.

AR has much closer friends than these two guys. Are David Bakhtiari and Randall Cobb saying racist things?

Rodgers loves associating his influential brand with Portnoy and Rogan. He loves celebrating them. He doesn't have to. Nobody is forcing him to. He's doing it out of his own free will. And they love being associated with the most valuable player of the most popular sports league in the United States. I wonder why other more prominent athletes don't tie themselves to Portnoy and Rogan...maybe they're afraid of being put in the cancel culture casket.

First thing that comes up when I google Aaron Rodgers David Portnoy is this video from Jan 2021 where AR talks about how much he believes in and wants to use his influence to spread the word about the Barstool Fund, which was started as a way to help small businesses that have gotten wrecked during covid times. AR donated 500K to the fund.

Maybe they don't associate with Portnoy and Rogan because they are NOT "dumb as a rock".

AR will have only one word on his tombstone "Canceled".

I must say, AR's use of the alliteration "cancel culture casket" on McAfee was cringeworthy and like nails on a chalkboard.

Rodgers is not getting canceled.

But 10 months ago Rodgers was widely beloved....and this was AFTER he made cameos on big-time shows like The Office, Key & Peele and Game of Thrones. I don't see him getting that kind of exposure again and there are younger tantalizing QBs to fill that void.

But I do predict we'll see him again Thursday on ABC in primetime.

The same network where he was mocked last week.
