Cal Hall of Fame WR Geoff McArthur Admitted to Hospital
2018 Cal Hall of Fame inductee Geoff McArthur has been diagnosed with rapidly-speading non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was just admitted to USC’s hospital on Friday.
McArthur is one of the top wide receivers in school history. He ranks as Cal’s all-time leader with 3,188 receiving yards, shares all-time lead in 100-yard receiving games (11) and is second with 202 career receptions. In addition, McArthur is seventh at Cal with 20 touchdown catches. Named a second-team All-American as a junior in 2003, he was also chosen second-team All-Pac-10, the team’s Most Improved Player and the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame’s College Male Athlete of the Year.
McArthur continues to hold Cal’s season receiving yards mark with 1,504 in 2003 while his 85 receptions the same season are fourth. A first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior, he led the team in receptions (57), receiving yards (862) and touchdown receptions (7). He holds Cal single-game record for most receptions (16) and is second in receiving yards (245), picking up both in the 2003 Big Game.

Geoff McArthur, our Coach, Mentor, Teacher, Friend, family man, and Cal Hall of Fame Player, was diagnosed with rapidly spreading non-Hodgkin diffuse large b-cell lymphoma. He was admitted to the USC Keck hospital on Friday, May 20, to undergo aggressive treatment and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, while he does have minimal health care coverage, it is not enough to cover his mounting medical expenses to get the care he needs.
Geoff has been teaching at St. Monica Catholic High School while training athletes and coaching football. He was doing what he loved. When once asked what he'd prefer to be called, Geoff, Coach Geoff, Coach McArthur, Mr. McArthur, he replied, "Just Coach. I still can't believe that I have this opportunity to impact young men in the way that I do. I love being Coach."
Geoff has touched the lives of so many, and now he needs your support, the support of his extended family. Geoff needs your love, prayers, warm thoughts, good vibes or whatever you do, as well as financial assistance. Please consider contributing to help relieve some of the financial burdens Geoff and his family are facing during this unexpected and highly stressful time and provide him with a sense of peace and support as he undergoes treatment.
We have established this GoFundMe to support all necessary expenses, including medical care, daily living, housing and beyond, that he will face during his treatment and recovery. If you know Geoff, you know that he is a warrior, an inspiration, and a man of faith and will do everything in his power to beat this. Any support you could give Geoff immediately would be incredibly helpful and appreciated.
We will be updating this page with Geoff's health and medical updates. We pray for that miracle that no matter how long the journey, Geoff can get back on the field with his players, on campus with his students, and enjoy his life with family and friends.
