I saw this linked on Twitter:

The state and future of Arizona Athletics with Athletic Director Dave Heeke - YouTube

It's a 30 minute interview with a Wildcats podcaster. I found the 10 minutes in the middle (@ the 10 minute mark) reassuring as far as the mindset of the leaders at the remaining Pac-10 schools:

- Made it sound like all 10 schools (AZ for sure) are committed to the conference
- Hinted that it's football that drives the bus (i.e. while the Big XII might be attractive to a BB school like AZ, it's not enough of a draw for them ... because of football)
- At times, barely hid his irritation with the LA schools (they should have stayed and tried to make the conference better instead of leaving ... they'll wait till the dust settles before looking into scheduling AZ/UCLA basketball games)
- World is moving towards more streaming
- Media package delay might have more to do with weak Q4s at some of the media players (mentioned Apple, Amazon, Disney)
- Expects we'll hear something sooner rather than later

All in all, nice to see such an open ended discussion with an AD. Knowlton would never

Knowlton could never. The guy is a BS artist - when he needs to speak strategy and vision, he's got nothing in the tank.

last year Arizona's AD Dave Heeke got a $95,000 raise to $875,000 with a two year contract extension.

He was an assistant AD at Oregon for 18 years, AD at Central Michigan for 11 and then became AD at Arizona in 2017 with an annual salary of $500,000.

Knowlton was Deputy AD at Army for 3 years, AD at D3 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for 7, and AD at Air Force force for 3 years before taking the Cal job in 2018 where he is paid $1.3 million and received an 8 year contract extension through 2029.

The PAC-12 (or whatever # they use) should prohibit all of its football and basketball teams from playing SC and Southern Branch. (The Big 10 did this when Michigan briefly left many years ago.) Let those two secessionists play smaller schools (such as Fresno) or travel farther. We do not need to make this easy for them.
Fire Knowlton!
Fire Wilcox!

At 10 losses between football and basketball, the AZ AD makes $87,000 per loss. At 27 losses between such, Knowlton makes $48,000 per loss. AZ AD makes almost twice as much per loss!
