Any word on how he's doing?

Wilcox says he's day-to-day but likely plays. Listed as first string on the depth chart out this afternoon. Ifanse and Stredick co-second string. I still don't know why Ifanse went so deep into the doghouse after his fumble that probably wasn't.

Moraga said that Ifanse is dinged up.
didn't hurdling defenders used to be a penalty? If so, they need to bring it back.Big C said:
Absolutely be cautious with Jaydn Ott, but if he and the medical team believe he isn't taking a significant further risk by playing, give him the ball! Speaking of risks, he probably shouldn't try hurdling the defenders anymore.
Exactly. It's hard not to think about Best's leap against Oregon State in 2009.Big C said:

I remember Russell White got a hurdling penalty called on him but I don't remember who we were playingBig Dog said:didn't hurdling defenders used to be a penalty? If so, they need to bring it back.Big C said:

Oh, sorry to hear that.

Only the top four running backs this year are out, so we good.

Or, at least, make mandatory regular viewing the ill fated, near catastrophic attempt made by Jahvid Best.Big Dog said:didn't hurdling defenders used to be a penalty? If so, they need to bring it back.Big C said:

He was walking around after the game last week so obviously not in great shape but doing alright, on Saturday we probably have him out in space as a speedback and work the other RBs inside.Econ141 said:
It would be a downright travesty if Ott got another concussion while in college let alone the very next week. If he did in face have a concussion, I hope we don't play him this week even if he is feeling 100% and the doctor's clear him. Really bad optics too.

Which should have been the plan against Auburn.
I hate being in the bottom half of the stadium, and my happy place is the top third. I actually chose the last row for this game and loved it - we saw everything. There's a reason a lot of coordinators like to be up in the press box.Econ141 said:
I was at the game but didn't get to see this happen (as an aside, sitting anywhere lower than 20 rows, you seem to miss a lot - what do people think is the best row to sit on for views?).
I really don't like hurdling - especially after the Best injury. Horrific and I never want to see a player have the involuntary reaction he did.

Did you see how many screen and swing passes we threw at him?

All telegraphed. How many tines did we go outside on the pitch? How many runs were faked inside with him then bouncing outside?
With a big fast defense like Auburn how about fake Ott left with Jackson keeping and going right? Or run a reverse? Get the defense moving laterally in the wrong direction.
First, you have to give them a reason to go in the initial direction. As long as the guys on the left can say, "Other side? That's ok, my guys got that covered. I got this guy.", then the fake pitch/reverse will leave them snickerin'.calumnus said:eastbayyoungbear said:calumnus said:Strykur said:He was walking around after the game last week so obviously not in great shape but doing alright, on Saturday we probably have him out in space as a speedback and work the other RBs inside.Econ141 said:

Nobody could block Asante because the talent gap is too high.JimSox said:calumnus said:eastbayyoungbear said:calumnus said:Strykur said:He was walking around after the game last week so obviously not in great shape but doing alright, on Saturday we probably have him out in space as a speedback and work the other RBs inside.Econ141 said:

Actually the biggest problem was that nobody blocked Asante. Repeated run blitzes and nobody ever accounted for him.
Also Jackson unable to make the right quick decisions at times. The last interception, which I previously thought was a desperation fourth down heave under pressure, was actually just a poor decision. He was under pressure but didn't have to throw it in to double coverage in the end zone when he had Hunter open underneath right at the first down line at the five. Oh well. He needs experience, and I hope he gets a lot of it in a win this Saturday.
