Bears Pick Up Commitment From Kansas DE BJ Canady
The Bears picked up their 12th commitment of the 2024 class today with the commitment 6-5/260 Topeka, Kansas defensive end BJ Canady, who announced his choice of the Bears in an announcement on campus this afternoon.
“Cal's the number one public university in the country so that’s big for me,” Canady said after his commitment to Cal. “I also love how Coach Browning was really clear with how he’ll use me. He’s really intense with his guys and knows what he wants from them. I have the best relationship with him and the Cal coaches out of any that have been recruiting me.

“I can’t wait to play for Cal. I’m ready to play for the fans and get that stadium packed up.”
In his commitment announcement, Canaday, who boasts a 3.91 gpa credited his sister NiJaree, an elite prep softball pitcher who plays across the bay at Stanford for pushing him academically and athletically as well as his coach and trainers.
The high 3 star DE was in Berkeley on an official visit in Cal’s contest vs. Auburn and the Bears made a good impression on the talented DE.
“It was fun to get to see the campus and the game and crowd was electric,” Canady said. “They have everything I look for in a program and the facilities are amazing!”
The Bears beat out home-state finalists Kansas State and Kansas as well as Washington, Tennessee, Nebraska, Iowa State, Missouri, Minnesota and more for Canady’s commitment.
