It was nice of the ACC to give us a home game against one of Clemson/FSU/Miami almost every year.

To be released at a later date. The ACC football schedule is set to be released on Jan 31, 2024.

In same 7 years, Notre Dame will play 35 ACC games versus 17 opponents. So one home and one away vs 16 teams and 3 versus the 17th team. As far as I know, the Stanford - ND contract expires after
this year. And FBschedules.com does not have the USC - ND series listed after 2026.

100%, there is zero recruiting benefit or an assurance of a much needed bowl eligibility win by playing either oregon state or washington state

a series with a beatable texas school like rice would be ideal
I keep telling folks this but yet it keeps getting lost: cutoff the Pacific Northwest from NorCal completely, no scheduling of Oregon and Washingon schools going forward, and as mentioned Texas schools are ideal since we will have exposure in Texas with SMU.

You do know they both will be playing San Jose State and Fresno State…. So how do you expect to accomplish that fact??

Well, this is kind of exciting. Infinitely better than B12, different than a B10 "west" refactoring of the Pac 8, and keeps us in the national conversation as we approach the inevitable super league.

What do you think the likelihood is for the 2030 schedule to be remotely realized? 2%? I guess there's something to be said about manifesting your dreams, but seems...ambitious.

Here's to new beginnings...

I am very excited for these schedules considering I live in NYC and plan on going to a good number of these games. However, I still hope for the B1G to play our traditional rivals (including, begrudgingly, $C).

WF, Pitt, SMU, and Syracuse should be easy wins. Furd and NC State are toss ups, Miami and FSU are likely losses
There are no "easy wins" for Cal. Any Cal fan knows that.

Likewise about making some/many of those games.

The B1G would be a killer schedule wise, every year Oregon UW, USC, UCLA being the same pod. Imagine getting Michigan and Ohio State on top of that...

ACC hoops is going to be AMAZING. Our recruiting is bound to go up, and with Madsen I feel we won't be pushovers. As well the ACC gets a large number of tourney bids, so it's not like we're going to be shut out if we fail to make the top 6 or 7 out of 17.

Imagine being in OSU/WSUs shoes right now, trying to figure out the MWC schedules... It's great to land in a real conference after that astounding managerial collapse.

We have to play at auburn, too, and sdsu at home if that stays. Plus, maybe notre dame on the road again. Our only sure win is UC Davis, and that's more of a probably.

So a home schedule of

UC Davis
SDSU
Miami
Syracuse
NCState
Stanford.

Anyone want to take a stab at Cal's average attendance next year?

Something maybe more entertaining. Stanford just drew 24k for UW…..

They play
TCU
Cal Poly
Wake Forest
Va Tech
SMU
Louisville

Any guesses as to the average home attendance?

If we win fans will attend.

As an ACC schedule goes, we got an easy one for our first year. But Wilcox will find a way to have a losing record anyway.

First year will be really exciting. After that, the travel and unnatural matchups will get old and weak.

I'm looking at 8-4 and a solid bowl season. Not a bad way to start in the new digs...

With the way players move around now, I find it hard to know what teams will be good and which will be bad. The safe assumption is the toughest two games are going to be florida state and Miami. But everything else, at first glance, seems to be no worse than a 50/50 game.

Pretty much everyone with a cable, satellite, or streaming TV subscription that includes ESPN has ACCN.

Yes, on xfinity if you have the package with the PAC 12 network.
Get YouTubeTV

2024:

Home
  • Miami
  • NC State
  • Syracuse
  • Trees
Away
  • Florida State
  • Pitt
  • SMU
  • Wake Forest

Based on this year's Sagarin, we would go 5-3 over that schedule with average home field advantage (2.18 points).

Cal vs
Miami +3.5
NCState -.4
Syracuse -4.2
Furd -9.7
@FSU +15.5
@Pitt -3.5
@Wake -2.5
@SMU +8.4

NC State at home is really a toss up and we would only be slight favorites over Pitt and Wake on the road. Lose those three and we are 2-6. I do think Cal's home vs away differential is higher than average and 4-4 is a reasonable expectation. With home games vs UC Davis and SDSU we should get to 6 wins and a bowl pretty easily and that is before we even schedule the 4th OOC game.

So while 6-6 or 7-5 seems likely, with only a modest year over year improvement, 9-3 could be in reach.

Have to due to their location, makes sense though as we will get exposure in Texas.

This schedule is much easier for Cal, Should be a good year for them to get at least 7 wins and build positive momentum.

Which means it's even more important to retain the good players on this team to keep continuity.

The exposure in Texas is good.

Reasoning behind having Cal and Stanford play SMU each year is that it means only 6 of the 14 ACC football teams in the eastern time zone have to play on the west coast each year, 3 at Cal and 3 at Stanford. Over the 7 year schedule, each of those 14 teams is scheduled to play 3 games in the Bay Area. (7 of the 14 would play at Cal twice and Stanford once, the other 7 would play at Cal once and Stanford twice.)

I have the sports tier on my cable subscription and it's on there.

Once the Pac-12 Network is gone, I'm probably switching to all-streaming and getting YouTube TV. It's on there too.

Actually I REALLY like our 2025 schedule: Duke, Carolina, Virginia, UNLV, Minnesota and SMU at home and Louisville, Va Tech, BC and SDSU on the road with Big Game at Stanford.

Some great basketball schools in there!

The ACC has "protected rivalries" so Cal, Stanford and SMU as the new guys are a group. Consider us the "Western pod." It reduces the travel.

However, it is a great result for us as it gives us a strong foothold in Texas for recruiting.

And SMU as a recent G5 should be a weaker opponent, on average, than the rest. At least in the early years.

Right now, SMU (6-2) would be the second best team in the ACC
Here are the current rankings according to Sagarin Recent:

1. Florida State #11
2. SMU #21
3. Louisville #24
4. North Carolina #26
5. Clemson #27
6. Miami #35
7. Duke #43
8. Va Tech #53
9. NC State #54
10. California #60
11. Pitt #69
12. Wake #71
13. Syracuse #77
14. Virginia #78
15. Georgia Tech #84
16. Boston College #85
17. Stanford #101
