I watched part of the SMU game last night, have the multi-view going right with SC-Oregon, New Mexico - Boise st, Iowa St - BYU, Fresno st - san Jose st.

SMU, Boise, San Jose st and BYU all wore all black uniforms with blue trim and/or decals. What's the deal? They dont want to wear their school colors?

An unfortunate trend in sports uniform design over the last 25 years or so is that people have come to view black as a "neutral" color that can be thrown in with any color scheme, like white often is. I disagree; black is a fundamental color unto itself and adding it to the scheme changes your brand identity.

But clearly I am in the minority here.

done once every season or two (max), there's a novelty factor that the players like

done consistently, yes, i'd agree, it changes the brand.

It seems like we should be more focused on Cal football winning and supporting the players and celebrating efforts like yesterday's win to keep us in bowl game contention and less concerned about what other schools uniforms are or discussions about if black is actually a 'color' like white. Please, why can't there be more focus on what matters to Cal football and less focus on these kinds of topics which don't pertain to Cal football? It's not like Cal has unveiled a black dominant uniform combo. or anything. Go Bears!!

In what way does my 'focus' have any impact on the game?

I believe this might be a tag line for college football on fox and espn next year.
