Auburn fan back again! Hope yall are well! Was wanting to know yalls thoughts on this?

To me seems like a good pickup thats low risk with the amazing HS WR class we just signed.

Good athlete with great speed. But too short for a wide receiver.

May be the fastest guy on the field at times. Writes encouraging notes for his teammates. May lack durability.

Will be awesome for trick plays. Just didn't get a sense that he was very durable. That said, would have loved to see what he could do as a WR at Cal.

Will be interesting to see him play in next year:s game.

Yeah, crazy speed and quickness, but a solid SEC tackle may put him out of commission.

Very good athlete, but I hope your NIL group bought the extended warranty.

If we could've kept him as a WR at Cal I wouldn't have minded. Hell I wouldn't have minded keeping him on-board as a backup QB only. He's fast and brings an X factor being able to pass for those trick play opportunities. And you could sure do worse as an emergency QB.

Sounds like it just wouldn't work out to stay at Cal.

LOL. Just give it up. Graduate from Cal with an infinitely more valuable degree and be a regular member of society. These families and advisors…never ceases to amaze me

the truth is that auburn will be a much better academic fit for sam who i conversed with for 15 minutes in the bus staging area after the game in denton, rooting for the very likable young man to earn a college degree

any discussion of wut his best position would be as a bear is kinda missing the role of academics in all of this

He's got some tools, but unproven production at WR at the college level. Great WR as a 10th grader, though!

As a quarterback, he actually has a strong arm, with reasonable accuracy. His problem was that he didn't see the field very well and just didn't have great QB instincts (how to avoid the rush, when to run, who to throw to, etc.).

Seems like a nice young man. Handled his QB demotion with class. We wish him well (except against us, of course).

He will probably be forced to play QB against us because of an injury and pass for 600 yards.

Auburn saw him in a few plays and know he has few equivalants in elusiveness--****!!!!!!!

Terrible news - a guy at PRESENT KR wildcat can be 10pts/game _+ WR SLot

What a **** up in thar we are NOT loosing him to a QB vacNCY TEM...Though his best friend from HS is their QB...

Good luck to SJV, except against our Bears.

Our coaches may need to discard this year's play signals. Of course the transfer portal makes it likely that many other teams will be in the same situation, playing a game or two in which one of their players from the previous season is now on the opponent's team.

Really excited for this kid's raw athletic ability in Hugh's offense. Hope you folks from Cal are doing well this holiday season and we look forward to hosting you next fall.

I will be greatly surprised if he scores more than three td's against our vaunted defense.

Is he getting a lot more money at Auburn?

Hard to say but I'll start with the negatives…
He's fragile given his size and most often the only thing open for a slot receiver in the sec is over the middle which I really don't see him surviving very long given his size.
On the plus side, good head on his shoulders, fast, shifty, and all the other things others have mentioned.
And as for what they haven't mentioned?
He was catching passes from Payton Thorne for 2 years in Naperville so there is pre existing chemistry assuming Thorne is your qb1 next year.

Again, maybe he thrives in gimmick situations but to expect a 5-10 190 guy to thrive at the slot position in d1 football, let alone in the sec where hard hitting linebacker sized safeties are the norm is a stretch.
Not saying he won't be successful what I'm saying is health would be my #1 concern.

Best of luck to him……but my question is why transfer He already used his one undergrad transfer. Will he be eligible to play the 24 season.

Anyone can transfer at anytime. Lawyers are being paid by NIL collectives.

Agreed. Was this a case of he wanted to go to Auburn or a case of we didn't want him? If it's the latter I think that was a big mistake.

Makes sense. Auburn QB Payton Thorne is his best friend, they played together in high school and throw together in the off season, Seems like a good situation for him and I wish him well.

Assuming he left Cal academically eligible, he can play in 2024

He is going to be enrolled at Auburn immediately for Spring so even if he took all Incompletes in his one semester at Cal, I'd think he'd be able to be eligible by next Fall,
