Cal Strong apologize if this was already covered. And he certainly hope there is no connection.

But the name is somewhat unique, the age seems in the ballpark, and this person lived in Sacramento. So this leads Cal Strong to ask if the Wells Fargo guy who stole from the elderly was the same guy who played OL for us and whose dad is/was the coach at Butte. Or is the name just a coincidence?

Can anyone confirm or dismiss this?

It has to be. The age is exactly right and he is from the Sacramento area, plus he was formerly a financial advisor for Edward Jones.

The name "Tyler Michael Rigsbee" is even more unique, and this is the name of both the former Cal lineman and the investment advisor who plead guilty to the charges cited above.

If this is indeed "our" Tyler Rigsbee, it is really, very sad on two levels:

1. He stole from an elderly person without any excuse or reason. What a scumbag. Cal Strong hopes he uses his time in prison to reform himself and become strong in remorse, morality, and character.

2. Our program has become so insignificant that none of the 20 or so news articles on him ever thought to mention that he played football at Cal.

Mannnn?
The rigsbee family was an important piece in tedford's success….beyond Tyler and later Jordan the dad was a key instrument in getting Rodgers and Cross to come to Berkeley

what a scumbag - absolutely disgusting crime. no sympathy for crimes against the elderly. hopefully he is confined in a real federal prison, not some club fed camp.

Strong take, flounder. Cal Strong would like to see this as well.

But Cal Strong would also like to see strong former Bears like Justin Forsett, Zach Follett, Alex Mack, Jahvid Best, Jeff Tedford, and Patrick Laird reach out to him in prison and start to shepherd him into a reformed life.

Cal Strong have no idea if Mychael Kendricks ever genuinely reformed himself. But if he has, then he would also be a good person to reach out to Rigsbee.

Cal Strong is overseas. But if someone can DM Cal Strong the way to contact Rigsbee in prison, he would also like to reach out.

In August 2018, Kendricks was charged with insider trading, allegedly making $1.2 million from investments in 2014.

On July 22, 2021, Kendricks was sentenced to one day in jail, three years of probation, and 300 hours of community service stemming from his guilty plea.

That is why Kendricks would be an ideal person--if indeed he has genuinely reformed--to reach out to Rigsbee to shepherd him to a reformed life of repentance, restitution, and good works.

The two crimes are very different. Insider trading is not as bad a stealing from the life savings of the elderly.

Agreed one is like Martha Stewart or a Congressperson and the other is Madoff. Still not at all defending Kendricks.

If you have ever worked for a publicly held company you know that true insider trading is rampant and cannot be stopped as long as you allow executives to buy and sell shares in the companies they run. Having a blackout the month before earnings are announced is window dressing. The executives know exactly how the company is doing long before the report is published. The amount of real insider trading going on is in the $billions, but the people that get sent to prison are athletes and celebrities that receive stock tips.

In the Ignorance Is Bliss Dept, I kinda wish I hadn't heard this news about what's-his-name, the thread topic guy. That said, I hope he gets an appropriate punishment, makes full restitution and then gets his life in order. Yeah, maybe he can devote the rest of his life to good works.
