The guy's been to the Super Bowl. If you have a monkey on your back after that, you're just a scapegoat for a narcissistic teflon-coated head coach who needed a super overpowered team to barely win one Super Bowl.cal83dls79 said:
But I doubt this takes the monkey off of Goff's back and it's sickening
Against the 49ers, Campbell ought to call more runs in short yardage situations than he did today. He showed a tendency to get cute with difficult pass plays on 2nd or 3rd and short instead of giving the ball to one of the Lions' two really good RBs.Bear Naked Ladies said:In a theoretical Niners-Lions matchup, I like the Niners' chances, but I don't like the prospect of the horribly overrated Niner DL going up against that Lions' OL.Anarchistbear said:

Get it the first time and can go for the win with a point after if another TD is scored. Fail the first time and you get a second chance to tie it assuming a second td is scored.
If you feel you have a 50/50 chance of making it it's not that bad a choice....especially if you are trying to avoid ot on the road.

After that gleeful summary by Collinsworth about where this game is headed for the Bucs, I hope Mayfield sh@its the bed with a pic to open the 2nd half.
Implying Goff has it easy on this team.Cal_79 said:southseasbear said:How about his backhanded compliment that "Goff makes easy things look easier."bearister said:

Curious, what makes the compliment backhanded?

When did Collinsworth say, or even imply, Goff has it easy? Sounds like some people are grasping at straw in their efforts to find something to be offended by.

You have to know Collingsworth's history in denigrating Goff as a "system quarterback" (at Cal and on the Rams) who "is making nothing but easy throws."
A compliment would be "Goff makes the difficult look easy." Saying "Goff makes the easy look easier" has the appearance of a compliment but it is doubling down on his position that Goff only makes easy throws. Hence, it is a "back-handed compliment."

…..Goff vs. Purdy will be an electric matchup. Purdy throws two picks. Lions win by 7.
Four QBs in NFL history have started a Super Bowl for two different teams:
— Michael David Smith (@MichaelDavSmith) January 22, 2024
Craig Morton (Cowboys, Broncos)
Kurt Warner (Rams, Cardinals)
Peyton Manning (Colts, Broncos)
Tom Brady (Patriots, Buccaneers)
If the Lions beat the 49ers, Jared Goff will add his name to that list.
Football is not poker. You can't make decisions purely on expected value because football has a clock that runs out. Going for 2 was a horrible decision with limited upside and huge downside.Anarchistbear said:I think the chances of making the two are better than 50% so math favorsMrGPAC said:Get it the first time and can go for the win with a point after if another TD is scored.
