My fandom for Herbert exceeds my dislike of Hairball. I remain a fan.

If it were just that, no. There are a lot of QBs in the league that I like. Only one coach (also in LA) I dislike more. However, with Keenan Allen and Jaylin Hawkins, blue and gold colors and representing my hometown playing 10 minutes from where I grew up….yeah I am still am a fan.

I'll just skip post games and try to ignore Hairball as long as possible. Maybe Niner fans can give us some pointers?

My enmity for Harbaugh is just slightly tempered by the "What's Your Deal?" game where he piled it on against Cheaty Petey. That was pretty fun.

I'm going to have to learn to not type "Hairball" now. As a Charger fan, he was my second choice after Vrabel. I'm so sick of the crap the Chargers do that I'll swallow my disdain for Harbaugh as the Stanford coach (and I wasn't a big fan of his when he was the Chargers QB). Dude can coach and has demonstrated that at FCS, FBS, and NFL levels. He just wears out his welcome everywhere.

Unfortunately, I don't think KA13 will be on the team going forward. Too expensive now.

You people who directly or indirectly support the Spanos family have no ****ing spine and are pathetic. 60 years of tradition was destroyed when the Spanos family selfishly and greedily yanked the team out of San Diego. Shame on you.

You think San Diego is unique in having a pro sports team leave? The team was founded as the Los Angeles Chargers in 1959 and played their first season in the LA Coliseum in 1960. Raider fans have followed their team farther. Losing teams and gaining teams comes with the pro sports territory.

That is why I focus my fandom on Cal and Cal alums, the team will never move, Cal alums will always be Cal alums. The team may not survive our incompetent leadership, but it will never move.

It's not fair that Harbaugh returns to the NFL right as Carroll gets pushed out of coaching.

Does Carrol still want to coach? UW could do worse.

What is the point of your post? You state a bunch of facts that are quite unrelated to the points I wrote in my post. Then, you make the point that *******s often make, which is that the Chargers played 1 year in LA before playing 99% of their entire history in San Diego, as if that should make the situation less painful for San Diegans. Then you suggest that pro sports teams moving is fairly commonplace and you cite an extreme outlier in the Raiders. In reality, pro sports teams moving does not happen all that often, and each case is a ****ed up situation for the affected fans. Losing a team certainly does not "come with the territory" of being a pro sports fan.

And you close with a rather comical point, which is that you choose to root for Cal sports because Cal will never move. True. Now, Cal just might choose to shut down the entire football program…I guess that's somehow better?

I'm not seeing the value in your response. Yet, at least three people starred your post for some reason. The mysteries of the internet…

If your "fandom" is dependent on a single player being on the team, are you really a fan of that team? Methinks not.

His point was that your alma mater is an intrinsic part of your persona, a body of mind expanding experiences that have shaped you on the path to adulthood, while professional sports are basically the realm of the entertainment business.

Laundry.

My commitment to being a fan of a professional team is as conditional as the owner's commitment to the city and the players. The owners can change cities and players any year, so I can change my fandom for the year. It is a year to year proposition.

I am only really a Cal fan permanently.

You said " You people who directly or indirectly support the Spanos family have no ****ing spine and are pathetic"

That was directed at a few of us who said we currently root for the Chargers. We are not from San Diego. Now, as a San Diegan (I assume) I get why you are pissed. As an Angeleno I felt the same way when the Rams moved to Orange County. I hated Georgia Frontiere, but I would never tell fans in Orange County they are "pathetic."

I grew up a Dodger fan. My uncles were the ones who brought them to LA. Broke Brooklyn's heart. The Giants are from New York too. Lakers are from Minneapolis. Ram's were from Cleveland, went to LA left for Orange County then St Louis, then moved back to LA, The list of "****ty" owners like the Spanos, Yorks, Irsay, Davis… goes on and on,

When Baltimore lost the Colts they were broken hearted and hated the owner. Whether people in Indianapolis supported the Colts or not was irrelevant. Baltimore got an expansion team and now they have a great shot at the Suoer Bowl. The Colts uniforms are just laundry being washed in another city.

My guess is the Chargers eventually move back or San Diego gets another team if it wants one.

If the NFL ever has another lockout like in 2011, cities with stadiums should start up their own league. Green Bay has the best model.

Agree with you here. There is 1 team that will never, ever, move.

The Green Bay Packers.
Start Slowly and taper off

The Packers have the right model: public ownership.

Ah, I didn't realize you were already hanging on by a thread. I'd feel the same way if my team moved too, so I can't blame you.

And thank God they are building high speed rail between LA and Vegas so Raider fans can get to the games more easily.
