Chiefs are now most hated team in the NFL, surpassing the Cowboys, maybe due to the latter's recent humiliating exit:

Nobody loves winners. The Cowboys are an oddity in that their winning is a coke fueled distant past. Still Jerry Jones, glitzy stadium and Texas bragging punch above their weight

West Coast teams are down in the hate-o-rama. They just don't move the needle like Baltimore or Philly.

Poor b@stards didn't even wait for the Super Bowl to hit it hard:
Three Kansas City Chiefs fans found frozen and dead outside HIV scientist's home had TRIPLE the amount of fentanyl needed to kill in their systems, as well as cocaine and THC, family source claims

"Fox News based on Twitter" LOL

Also:

"Taylor Swift is the least popular performer of all time trailing Kid Rock and Ted Nugent" according to Fox News based on their reading of Twitter posts in the last 90 days, including counting the bots that Elon let back on.

Funny that right-wing media has got their sheep rooting for the team representing San Francisco along with Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsome. 2024….May you live in interesting times. .

Wait, is the game tomorrow? I thought it was in eight days...

Oh yeah, the hype. Annually, the most over-hyped, over-corporate event in the history of the world. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz . . . At least there is a fun backstory this year that transcends the game. How fitting that it would involve an over-hyped performer from a different realm.

All black, no logo?
Apparently he was holding out for more money. He was ahead of his time, knew that's where the real money would be made!

But Fresca gave him all you can eat at Big Bob's for a year.

(PS: Fresca was the exclusive beverage at Bob's back in the day, at least in order for my joke's logic to work.)

Those clearly are iconic Spotbilt cleats. You can tell a mile away. The heel strap gives it away. I used those in high school - all leather including soles, with screw in spikes. I had to use them since Nike and Adidas- which everyone else had - did not come in widths.

The 49ers themselves were multiracial and multicultural. That some (many?) we're racist does not make the name racist any more than "Patriots" "Cowboys" "Steelers" "Oilers" "Commanders" "Buccaneers" "Pirates" etc are racist names even though many in that group were racist.

The 1849 gold rush initiated and accelerated a large movement of ethnic cleansing in rural California.

Quote:

Historian Benjamin Madley recorded the numbers of killings of California Indians between 1846 and 1873 and estimated that during this period at least 9,400 to 16,000 California Indians were killed by non-Indians, mostly occurring in more than 370 massacres (defined as the "intentional killing of five or more disarmed combatants or largely unarmed noncombatants, including women, children, and prisoners, whether in the context of a battle or otherwise").

According to demographer Russell Thornton, between 1849 and 1890, the Indigenous population of California fell below 20,000 primarily because of the killings. According to the government of California, some 4,500 Native Americans suffered violent deaths between 1849 and 1870.

Furthermore, California stood in opposition of ratifying the eighteen treaties signed between tribal leaders and federal agents in 1851. The state government, in support of miner activities funded and supported death squads, appropriating over 1 million dollars towards the funding and operation of the paramilitary organizations.

Peter Burnett, California's first governor declared that California was a battleground between the races and that there were only two options towards California Indians, extermination or removal. "That a war of extermination will continue to be waged between the two races until the Indian race becomes extinct, must be expected. While we cannot anticipate the result with but painful regret, the inevitable destiny of the race is beyond the power and wisdom of man to avert." For Burnett, like many of his contemporaries, the genocide was part of God's plan, and it was necessary for Burnett's constituency to move forward in California.

The Act for the Government and Protection of Indians, passed on April 22, 1850, by the California Legislature, allowed settlers to capture and use Native people as bonded workers, prohibited Native peoples' testimony against settlers, and allowed the adoption of Native children by settlers, often for labor purposes

I'm aware. My maternal grandmother was Paiute, with her father's family originally from the Eastern Sierras, but she was born on a Paiute reservation in the state of Washington where much of the tribe had been relocated.

Surprised at the 9ers being slight favorites in this game, the Chiefs have a big edge at QB and big game experience.

9ers are way more talented. But they've been fortunate to win both playoff games.

I guess we'll see how far a generational QB can take you

If you look at the whole season, the 49ers are the better team. If you look at just the playoffs, the Chiefs are better. Depends on where you put more weight.

How do you define "big game experience?" Most of this 49ers team has been through (and won) multiple playoff games.
