Earthquakes in New York and Berkeley. A total solar eclipse on April 8. What's next?

The moment I felt the shaking here in New Jersey, I told my wife, "That's an earthquake -- I lived in California long enough to know!" The quake (centered near Flemington in west central New Jersey, not far from where my wife used to live) was 4.8. I told all and sundry that the Richter scale is logarithmic, and that therefore the quake was more than 100 times weaker than the Loma Prieta quake of 1989. There was little damage, but there were hearts aflutter. Easterners are not used to this, even though there was another moderate quake some years back. I thought this one was more serious -- the shaking lasted longer.

Felt it all the way up in NH. Worst of all with this, imo, is the many, many crumbling nuclear plants on the east coast not built to handle anything over a 4. Add to that the fact that many are just barely above sea level and with ice melt, we all all pretty much doomed, so hug your kids and get to as many Cal games as your can!
