I am still pissed about UCLA blowing up the PAC-12 and to see the way they are embracing their new conference is rubbing salt into the wound.

I must admit that the commercial is pretty good, but still hate what they did to the storied conference.

You probably won't enjoy reading this, but if you need more anger:

PAC-12 emails from the announcement of U$C and UCLA leaving for the B1G

Knowlton's response was the default out-of-office message that comes with Outlook.

Everyone who lives in or around LA LA Land and follows college football knew SC was a short timer in the Pac unless something changed. It was all over the media down here. CC knew at some point SC probably would leave, and told a group of us so. No one expected UCLA to take off, No one.

Does that change anything? Does that give anyone a greater sense of being?. Is your inner soul feeling better? I realize people are angry that Cal is not in the B1G and 4 other Pac schools are, but the reason Cal isn't has to do with Cal, not UCLA.

Unless I missed something about Oregon State and Wazzu, there are not 6 Pac schools in the B1G

fUCLA doesn't exactly sound humble in that video, do they? Maybe as the gridiron losses mount in the fall, they will get a good dose.

My UCLA friend sent me this longer version of the commercial when I texted him reminding him how UCLA screwed over the other schools.

I like Cal's new commercial, but this is pretty good too.

That's probably better than "Sorry, I'm on the 11th tee. I'll get back to you next week."

Ooops, missed the count. I know why my legal career was decades longer than my CFO career. Thanks - I will fix.

This is probably just a strong case of my mid-summer optimism -- when all our QBs are throwing frozen ropes on 30-yard outs in practice and our RBs are running with power and attitude not seen since Chuck Muncie and Marshawn Lynch -- but I have a renewed sense of optimism about Cal athletics. I feel like with Rich Lyons at the helm, he'll be someone who understands that athletics remain integral to keeping Old Blues connected to this place. We've got folks running the NIL who have a head for business. As tough as Cal's path will be in the ACC, I think UCLA is going to get a rude awakening to the B1G and I'm not sure Lincoln Riley's rinky-dink offense will succeed in the cold of the upper midwest come late October and November.

I'll miss the Pac, and I will blame SC and Southern Branch, along with ESPN and Fox, for their greed and selfishness in destroying the Conference of Champions. But this ACC Experiment is gonna be interesting for us. Sometimes people "fall upward." Maybe now is our time. No, I haven't been drinking yet this evening.

I will feel a lot better when we have a new AD.

I'm drinking the same kool-aide. My lame arse perspective is we probably got cut a break in football and with some help from NIL and Wilcox maturation as a coach, will have a better record with an easier schedule, and face a tougher conference in basketball because the travel will hurt basketball more, and the ACC is the deepest and best basketball conference most years. That said, I like where we are headed with Madsen. This, of course assumes the ACC sticks around.

Don't be so sure. Remember when we all thought Carol was working behind the scenes to get into the B1G?
Give to Cal Legends!

https://calegends.com/donation/ Do it now. Text every Cal fan you know, give them the link, tell them how much you gave, and ask them to text every Cal fan they know and do the same.

LOL who on here thought Christ was going to do ANY ****ing work on getting us into the B1G (or any other conference for that matter), we now know that ND and the Trees did all the work on realignment in our regard.

I didn't believe it and I called BS on the "insiders" who assured us she was "doing more than any PAC-12 CEO to get us into the B1G." Christ was working with Kliavkoff on blocking UCLA, working on getting Calimony, was by her own admission prepared to sign Kliavkoff's Apple streaming deal and was shocked others (UW and Oregon presidents) had been lying to her while they were trying to get into the B1G.

Except for the last part "prepared to sign Kliavkoff's Apple streaming deal" she was out to lunch during that whole year between the announcement of the LA schools' departures and the PAC-12 collapse, she did nothing in that window.

I took some small solace in SC's preseason conference ranking at 6th and pucla's at, what? 200th? If it ends up that way, I'll be smiling.

She just is not a college football fan and had other things she focused on. It is where you would want some guidance and effort from your $1.3 million a year AD, but hiring and giving Knowlton a lifetime extension was the biggest mistake she ever made. If Cal athletics does not survive the next round of realignment, that is the reason.
