Yep, that's correct. No wonder we're in the ACC and have to travel across the country to play half of our conference games.

Silver lining: most of this list is B1G teams so apparently a desirable trait for that conference. We'd fit right in!

Thank you JW, hope you can destroy my faith by winning 9-10 games this year,

Well, if we're playing this game...

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/indiana/

Indiana had a losing conference record for 17 straight seasons (2002-2018) -- or 25 straight without a winning record (1994-2018) -- before going over .500 in 2019 and the shortened 2020 season.

Even bad records are made to be broken.

Northwestern had 21 losing conference records in a row, 1974-1994. From 1976-1981 their overall W-L-T record was 3-62-1.

Breaking this streak will now be significantly easier in the ACC. Over the last decade plus, the Pac12 North has been the toughest division in the NCAA along with the SEC West.

More than half the BIG is east of the Miss. so, i'm not sure the travel argument flies (sorry).

Tedford went 3 years in a row with a losing conference record and was fired.

Dykes went 4 years in a row with a losing conference record and was fired.

Wilcox went 5 years in a row with a losing conference record and was extended 6 more years.

The ACC should offer an opportunity. Many think we can go 4-4 in the ACC this year. Next year's schedule looks even easier.

I think what he is saying is our poor history is what got us scrambling begging ACC for a lifeline. Had our recent history been better we'd possibly be in the B1G with 5 former pac schools (assuming Furd also) on our sched. Also presumably a better revenue cut.

Agreed. I was just being oppositional.

It's funny- considering the company they keep- how Nebraska still thinks they are relevant in college football

Well, at least one neutral internet prognisticator has Cal breaking that trend this year.

We pay Wilcox like AT&T pays its CEO after a 30 year(!) stock price slide. That guy makes Wilcox look like a pauper...$20 million per year.

AT&T had $15.6 billion in net income in 2023. Cal football would have had to earn almost $4 billion in net income to be comparable.

I watched their entire show the other day and it was long, over an hour, but it was fun to dream again. They are not West Coast guys but think that people are really overlooking how much talent the Bears have and how much came thru the portal. They are diving deep on all Power 4 teams and have talked with people from other schools about some of our portal guys and these two received good word a few and are excited.

Someone has to be a cupcake to Ohio State and Michigan to dominate.

We can be that cupcake!

Cherry picking data wasn't my point. I doubt if anyone on this board wants me to point out how horribly T has been run over the last 40 years while ever increasing CEO pay. Their stock price is sort of like a football teams record. CEO controls (to a great extent) one, a head football coach controls (to some extent) the other. You can probably guess why I picked AT&T.
