I usually don't post ot political stuff so my apologies in advance. Hopefully I'm not as enraged about something as I am about this and I don't post anymore OT stuff in the future.
Anyway please read, review, and think critically on Measure J and I hope that after thinking on it you will ultimately vote no if you're a Sonoma county resident.
Aside from the fact that the people who mislead Safeway shoppers to get signatures to put this crap on the ballot aren't even residents of Sonoma county and have been staging animal abuse videos and generic photos, threatening judges, and potentially being the source of an avian flu outbreak at the Petaluma duck farm given they were the only ones that didn't scrub in to the facility; they have a stated goal to eliminate any and all animal agriculture in the US within 15 years.
I grew up in west Sonoma county on a small family farm and have been vested here for all of my life. While I left farming and pursued an education in engineering, I still have a profound sympathy for those who wake up at 4am to feed their animals or let a vet in, or birth a calf, or turn on pumps: as I've done it. It's a tough life and it's not always pretty, but to convolute family owned and operated pasture based organic egg farms, dairies, etc with mega polluters is absolutely absurd. Dairy and eggs are the most local product their is and to supplant them with plant based milk and fake meat and eggs grown using synthetic fertilizer and trucked half way around the globe burning fossil fuels under the auspice that they are environmentally more friendly than a cow taking a deuce to grow a legume which gets all its nutrients from the atmosphere 10 miles away from the grocery store is a ludicrous claim and I hope that enough people are smart enough to realize that.
Long story short this measure will force my family and many friends out of Sonoma county and supplant open space with land development.
I hope that you'll think for yourself and vote no on J if you're a Sonoma county voter.
Thank you for reading
