It is a prediction more than criticism.

I expect Bloesch (Wilcox?) to keep it very conservative against UC Davis so Auburn doesn't have much to look at. Maybe play three QBs, both to get a look at them in game situations and again, to make it tough to scout us. Right now, I have no idea what our offense will really look like and it is not bad to take that mystery to Auburn. All this assumes we are handling UC Davis without having to pull out the stops.

If running Ott up the middle is our first play against Auburn, THEN I will be upset.

Toss to Ott, just to make Shocky happy.

IIRC, Davis plays Cal very well. I expect UCD to beat the spread, though I guess Dan Hawkins is no longer there.

He will know the philosophy and scheme. But most teams run variations of the same offense. My belief is if the game is in hand Wilcox will try and keep the scoreline down as a nod to Plough. He was involved in the program and the staff and players have a lot of respect for him

But this team needs to assert some dominance. And if they can get to 50 I believe they should. The perception nationally is that Cal is not a serious program. If Cal wants to be a big boy program they need to behave like one. Part of that is winning. And taking no prisoners.

Coach Plough knows the deal. Cal needs to turn some heads. No time for playing nice.

Agree. This makes sense until there may be a reasonable point margin for the Bears.

Yes, but Ott gains 35 yards before he is brought down by the last man to have a shot at him.

Second play: play action pass over the middle to Endries for 15 yards.

Third play: Ott up the middle for 2 yards.

Fourth play: Grizzell inside post for a 23 yard TD, Mendoza hits him at the 8 yard line and Trond cruises in for the score.

From what I've seen I think that would probably be rational based on ability but with so many Cal fans (and pretty clearly Wilcox) emotionally tied to Fernando it would just invite a QB controversy with many fans unfairly turning on Rogers. Thus, it would probably be best to start Fernando, but say both (or all three) will play. Let them win it in games so fans can support the decision.

However, I really think Sagapolutele is the future.

The first play will be a wide receiver screen where the blockers whiff and the receiver only gains a yard.
