All of those points are fair, but I think the biggest issue (and the thing that really broke up the league) was TV coverage:oski003 said:
I feel like the Pac 12 was a darn good conference, but we got pooped on by the following:
1) corrupt officiating that cheated for our opponents in our non-conference games
2) an extra conference game so we can beat each other up
3) playing a fair ooc conference schedule where we traveled instead of being like the SEC who generally won't travel outside of it.
4) having mediocre preseason rankings so we end up mediocre.
Now that we are in the ACC, some of these problems are neutralized. The pac 12 sucked for its member schools, mainly because they weren't corrupt like the eastern conferences. We are simply free of one of the things that was holding us down. This type of crap is some of what justifies Wilcox still coaching here. If he has the same record in a non-rigged deck, it would suck. Yes, I am aware, a great coach who gets immediate momentum succeeds despite this.

1. Outside of the west coast, it was hard to watch Pac-12 Network (thanks Larry).
2. For games not on P12 Network, usually all but one would be played after 10pm ET.
Most of the country just didn't get to see our games. With the schools now distributed into conferences with ET/CT time zone coverage, people are starting to see that the conference was actually good.
Another thing that the Pac-12 Network did was actively remove content that people put on YouTube. So if you didn't have access to the Pac-12 Network via your carrier, there was no way to see any P12Net content.sycasey said:

IMO this might be a temporary benefit. The ACC may end up adding a 9th conference game to strengthen resumes for playoff selection and/or to get more money from ESPN.oski003 said:

I admit I was rooting for the Furd in that game. They refused to leave Cal behind in the Pac-3, helping to get Cal into the ACC. Also, Scummy Dykes was never truly invested in Cal. He was always looking for his next job when he was here. Then after he left, he badmouthed Cal. Sod him!

I watched that game, was probably rooting for Stanford to win ahead of TCU. TCU won but I thought Stanford acquitted themselved pretty well in that one. The problem is that basically all the former Pac teams are getting better TV exposure now than they did while together. Even Oregon State and Washington State got their home games on The CW.bear2034 said:freshfunk said:This group of teams is 21-2 and 3-0 against the SEC. 🫡 pic.twitter.com/ldi8CcDnep

If only this group of teams can form a conference that would make sense geographically and secure an attractive television contract.
I want Vandy next, that would be a hell of a road tripwifeisafurd said:
One change being in the ACC is we have had an immediate uptick in national coverage (it also helps to march into an historic SEC venue and come out with the upset win). Even friends and relatives back east sent me congratulatory notes. Thinking of chanting ACC after every win. We own it! And this isn't the first time, we went into Ole Miss and Texas (now a SEC team) and beat those guys recently. Let's get some more SEC home and home series! Screw travel issues - we rule the SEC!!!

It's going to get pretty hard to schedule home and homes vs the SEC going forward given that we are going to have UCLA nearly every year as the "A" on our OOC schedule, and that we are piling up a lot of cross-country travel mileage.
In a given Pac season, Florida would have been a perfect "A" OOC game, but in the ACC it's just kind of tedious and redundant, so much so that we had to drop them.
I've been to Tuscaloosa in the last year. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. It was OK but nothing special. However, I was with a group that favored Mexican food (in Alabama?), so my chances to try the local BBQ was limited.BarcaBear said:
How about scheduling Oklahoma, LSU, or Bama? Food itself would be worth the trip to LSU or Bama, not sure about Oklahoma.

Right now I think Cal and Stanford are actually getting the best exposure for all their games, as long as Comcast continues to pull its nonsense with blacking out the former Pac schools' games on Big Ten Network. (I guess the DirecTV ESPN blackout hurts us here, but that also kind of hurts everyone.)
Give me an LSU night game any yearBarcaBear said:
If I'm in Alabama or Louisiana I'm all over the Gumbo, & Jambalaya. I'd even go for a crawfish boil. BBQ if I couldn't get one of those three
One of my best friends from Cal was from Louisiana and she got me addicted to Gumbo.
I'm not sure right now UCLA is anything close to an A team.Cal88 said:wifeisafurd said:

UCLA is a 50-50 game on any given year, they are down right now, but given the program's advantages are likely to bounce back pretty soon. We're talking about scheduling teams years in advance, so you never know how good they will be years from now.Quote:

As long as we're getting $10 million a year from them, I am fine with playing UCLA. I am not so sure why we will be playing USC in basketball.SBGold said:
Totally agree. I see why we doing the UCLA thing and I like it more than a SUC game annually, but I don't love it. LSU, Okla, MIzzou or Vandy or Nebby would be much more interesting as an A game to me
I went to UVA also, so have a full understanding of how cool the ACC tourney isstinger78 said:
Take a weapon with you if you do a night game at LSU.
Yes, basketball is the pinnacle of sports enjoyment in the ACC. You'll enjoy that a lot. Save your PTO and get to an ACCT. You'll never forget it.
Cal88 said:
We shouldn't have LSU and UCLA in our OOC slate the same season, it's kind of dumb, counterproductive scheduling, especially given that few other ACC programs schedule 2 "A" games out of their 4 OOC.
