I really hesitated to comment because sometimes I school people so hard that it comes off mean spirited. But...sometimes folks make such terrible arguments lacking knowledge that for the education of others I respond.
Y'all know when 50 was asked why he didn't respond to Nick Cannon dissing him, and 50 said cuz Nick's corny and nothing he's even said makes him think ooh, bars ,I got to respond. Yeah, this is like that.
What you mean to say was interpolation, not sampling. Theat corny song he made for a video game takes lyrics and modified them, that's called interpolation, not sampling.
IT was also a really odd claim you made about amping because I kept trying to think of their was a particular melody he sampled, but there isn't a melody, and the cadence of the chant varies depending on who the mic man was leading rh chant.
I'm not an expert on hip hop, but I do know more than you on this subject. More importantly, I'm willing to do research and think critically about what is being said. I am not married to arguments, if someone posts some legit knowledge I welcome it.
That other thread left you a little fragile, and possibly the miseducated folks liking your posts, as well. That thread was about Kenny being called out for misogyny, racism, exploitation of black women's trauma. That wasn't.a discussion about melodies, beats, bars and rhyme schemes. It was about the content. Which is exactly why critical thinking was necessary, bruh. You can feel some kinda way about that, but don't get it twisted.
I'm also really keen on well thought out arguments, something yours are lacking so I tried doing your homework for you. I didn't spend too much time on it because it's not that important, so if you have actual additional information, like a Snoop interview stating where he first heard the lyrics, then do yourself a favour and share it.
Back to your argument. You don't know whether Cal's Bear Territory song is what Snoop interpolated. As others have pointed out, in the past 30 years some highschools have done their own interpolation of the lyrics. Meaning Snoops interpolation may well be an interpolation of an interpolation. You don't know where he heard the song, so you can tangentially say it's Cal, but it wouldn't necessarily be accurate. You just don't know.
However, if you paid attention to what I said I thought the "story" part was corny, but thought the what and Bear Territory should be kept Snoops interpolation pretty much does that. Switched Hey in place of What, and keeps Bear Territory part. And its a hell of a lot better than our corny chant.
Btw, I don't play video games or listen to snoop religiously, so why on earth would I have heard that song before? lolol i sincerely doubt you're familiar with the hip hop I listen to. Just remember, it's okay that people know more than you. I'm sure you have some specialized knowledge somewhere on some subject. Hope your feelings weren't hurt again.
Perhaps someone can reach out to Snoop and ask if we can use his lyrics instead of ours, cuz i'd rather be chanting, "Tell your mama (Hey) and tell your daddy (Hey)
Now tell the whole damn world this is Bear territory!"
