Scan a QR code at the stadium at the end of each quarter to get a 1% discount on textbooks. 4 scans over 6 games is a 24% discount. It's not like you can't study sitting in the stadium.

If this is illegal, I disavow (don't want to be getting a knock at the door from some "other people").

I hope this works but honestly I hope the Athletic Dept. figures out another way to get students to attend games (free student passes would be a good start). Coach needs to be watching film, game planning, inspiring his troops, working out or just plain decompressing.

It's ridiculous that sebasta has to do marketing's job for them. But it's 100% more ridiculous that Wilcox has to take time out of preparing for the game to do this sht. Seriously, ***

You need to get the free tickets to the impressionable freshmen, who start going because all their new friends are going and then get hooked. They have not decided "no one goes" or "Cal always loses" or "only the Greeks go to the games" or even "I need to be in the library on Saturday."

You can fill up a section with just those two.

You can go to Berkeley High, and that would fill every empty seat.

Honestly, Lyons ought to make him work on campus in his office. If for no reason than just to **** with him. There are many many regular Joes being made to work in their office in the guise of 'teaming is good'. And their entire job is still conducted on zoom and conference calls now done in their office. (my son is one of those regular Joes (not his real name ;-)).

I like the energy but giving free tickets to people that already have season tickets or to fraternities and sororities is largely preaching to the choir. These are the groups that are already going and the efforts will likely only increase attendance marginally.

The free tickets need to be given to those who wouldn't be going otherwise, to get them interested and create new fans. Most important is freshmen, as they have only been in school a month and are looking for social interaction, new activities, some will be pledging the Greek system, but someone who knows can tell me if they would be in yet, I think not and certainly they don't live in the houses. The dorms is where you will find the most freshmen.

The other large group to offer free tickets to is potential unaffiliated fans, but I'd start with East Bay and SF students, college and HS. Online offer, General Admission, student section and end zone, just bring a student ID, admit until those sections are full. If you are late, find Tightwad.

Well of course the strategy should be laid out by the AD with the coach and staff focused on game prep, but I guess you need me to state for the 10,000th time that I think Knowlton was a horrible hire, should not have been extended, is grotesquely overpaid, should have been fired long ago and we will be lucky if our program survives his tenure?

when I was a student in the Tedford era, all freshmen got free tickets and all other students got incredibly discounted season tickets. why isn't this still a thing? just increase the price of food by a dollar if it needs to be funded...
