Two calls that went against Cal at.Auburn. I agree with the 1st but not the 2nd.

Same. No way that receiver was going to make that catch - even if the DB was not there. The reciver broke to the outside and the pass went to the inside. But it was at that point the refs were determined to get Auburn a TD to make the game closer.

I got visibly PO'd when I saw that first TD with the WR toe tapping out of bounds unforced. I'm like the refs and the guys on TV clearly don't know the rules lol. There's no way that's "Established" in bounds.

On rewatch of the first play, the receiver does not appear to have been "forced" out at all but in real time the ref saw the two players locked up with their hands on each other just before the receiver stepped out, so I can see how the ref could make the call he did. He didn't have the benefit of replay. I think we all agree the second call was atrocious. So I disagree with both calls but IMO we can't expect to get the first call 100% of the time.

The interesting thing is that the first call came on 3-10 from the 20. They would have ended up with a 37 yard FG attempt if the ref didn't rule force out. The second call would have resulted in a turnover if no flag had been thrown. So we could have easily ended up with a shutout or close to it.

during what ended up being Auburn's 2nd (and final) TD drive, it was completely clear to me the refs were going hold Auburns hands all the way past the goal line. one way or another auburn was going to end up with another touchdown. calls on them were 'missed', we were slapped with a bogus PI and a questionable targeting... it just seemed so clear. so while everyone around me was freaking out, i simply accepted it and was happily going after my frozen lemonade, blissful.

highly recommend the approach where possible (only possible here because we were up two scores, admittedly)

the fact that said handholding drive took as long as it did (i recall them being 1st and goal with roughly 7 and a half minutes left, and they didn't score until just over 6 left) was the real victory.

There were quite a few others.
Biggest one was the Wilson punt that was downed inside the 1 that they said crossed the plane

Oh yeah that was crazy to me, because it clearly looked like the ball never crossed the plane, the only thing that could be argued is maybe the player had a leg or something still on the endzone..but it looked like a beautiful punt and coverage. What I found strange was there was no replay.

One of the Auburn fans stated "I am not convinced we actually scored a touchdown."

Just saw a Boise player had his Targeting call successfully appealed to NCAA. Please tell me we appealed ours too?! Having a player miss half the following game hurts.

Unfortunately I think we would lose that appeal.
The receiver was defenseless in the sense that he had yet to make a football move meaning it doesn't matter about leading with the helmet / spearing.
That said, I didn't see Harris really contact his head or neck area he was more just standing there.
The crappy thing is the new rule says "if it's in question it is targeting" meaning they'll just defer to targeting if they aren't sure
