Like everyone else, I don't know if JKS will come here or not, but from a realistic perspective, that game could not possibly have helped.

Yeah for you old blues who value a big game victory above else it was a good day, but for anyone without such an esoteric bias, the reality is an anemic Cal offense limped past a ****ty Furd team to take top spot among the 3 bottom dwelling teams in the 4th worst conference.

The final drive was impressive but the day overall was awful. If I was watching this game and this season as a top recruit, I'd find it embarrassing that fans rushed the field after beating a 3-7 team.

And btw, this is coming from someone who was one of the first to rush the field today.
The "Old Blues who value a Big Game victory above else" was a bull **** comment. You rushed the field, so you are selling yourself as cool and part of the embarrassment?

I rushed the field because it's fun, especially after drinking all afternoon. Also, you have to try to revel in small victories when you can considering we're stuck with a coach who hasn't beaten a decent team in I don't even know how many years.

I have no delusion that I'm not part of the embarrassment when I've been following a team with a 6 win ceiling year after year. But I also have the awareness to realize it's pathetic that we rushed the field after beating a 3 win team in a coach's 8th season.
"You have to try to revel in the small victories....". So again, because I am an "Old Blue" enjoying a Big Game win, I get called out, but as long as you drink some cheap **** stuff and run out on the field, then it's being "aware" and all very Blue and Gold?

I also hope he's good. How many Elite 11 QBs did Tedford sign? How many were actually any good?

didn't get many (/any?) 5 stars though. and he passed the eye test with flying colors in the limited highlights i watched over the summer

but you never know. ideal situation is he sits behind mendoza a year and has a loaded team in front of him

If JKS has the confidence that he should have as a top recruit, you've got to think that he thinks that he can do some things better than Fernando right now and beat him out NEXT year.

I keep thinking back to all of the hoopla and publicity surrounding the recruitment and signing by Texas of 5-star Arch Manning, who never saw the field (that I can remember) during his true frosh season. And if I am not mistaken, he is still their backup to Ewers. 5 stars doesn't guarantee - or even make likely - instant readiness for P4 fb for true frosh QBs.

Valid concern. High bust rate with QBs. I feel more confident in JKS because he's a later bloomer who just keeps getting better and better, and his tape shows him dropping dime after dime under heavy pressure. Too many 4 and 5 star prospects are just QB camp stars that play on stacked teams.

Arch Manning has sat on purpose because Ewers is that damn good, and when given playing time Arch has played well and will have the reins next year, there is nothing wrong with sitting for a while especially if the starter is very high-caliber like Ewers and the Mannings do not want to rush him, Arch can do whatever he wants with his family's backing anyways, playing QB or otherwise

I think Sagapolutele is extremely under-rated if anything. He is now Hawaii's all time passing record holder playing for Campbell High in Ewa, not one of the traditional powers. He did not have the luxury of a great OL, he has had to learn to avoid the rush and extend plays. "Strongest arm in the country."

Ayoob was a 5 star on one service (scout), though because it was JC recruiting i've always felt it wasn't exaclty the same. And it took about 20 minutes of gametime before we knew that was an evaluation miss

Kline was a high 4 star

All of that is probably true. I am just trying to say - and Arch Manning is not the only example - that it is not anathema for a highly rated true frosh QB to sit as a backup for a year, to get acclimated to P4 fb as well as to become acclimated to the course work and academic workload of an elite, highly competitive academic environment like Berkeley. He won't, after all, be enrolling at Sacramento State, or Louisville...or NC State.

Is Akili Smith Jr still committed to UO? If so, JKS must be aware of it.

Now, kids of that ability and hype always imagine that they will beat out whoever their competition is. 'Course, I'll bet that Arch thought the same.

Highly likely that Arch will be first QB drafted when he declares/

The links aren't important though. The tweets have all the information and come from multiple reputable sources confirming the initial report, Oregon has also confirmed it. The only things in the links are pure speculation about where he might land with no solid info: back to Cal? Georgia was a finalist. Miami needs a QB. Some other team might throw a huge NIL deal his way. Etc.

I'm happily surprised by his cancel on Georgia. I was wondering if he pulled out of Oregon after seeing Gunner Stockton struggle against Notre Dame. Kirby must've affirmed his current cadre of QBs.

I was looking at the dates on this thread and if you go back to the post about Georgia it is not a current statement.

I'm wondering is there newer news that he has cancelled or not scheduled a Georgia trip? Because the original comment you reference was made back in Nov. not recently. Is there a more current reference that anybody knows about?

You're not really big on time stamps or timelines or context are you….
We did in fact lose JKS shortly after I posted this and the context was Wilmoe **** coaching v SMU. As I predicted at that time he flipped and signed with Oregon only to come back (by no effort of Wilmoe all credit is due to Ron and Kevin).

This is exactly why I don't write much in the post season or about potential transfers. All BS and speculation. Especially perhaps now when Wilcox staff were so successful yesterday leading into this season which is all that counts. Did I see Ayoob's name mentioned AGAIN???

I know. But it sure was fun to watch that kid come out and go 9 for 9 with 2 TD's.
So I went back and pulled up all the old threads with his name in the title - you might have noticed.

I'm sorry if you felt I was mocking you. Consider it cheering with you in the stands, with beer spilling.
