Just because there isn't one and I can't not talk about all of the breaks Notre Dame is of course getting. No holding or PI calls, the ref blocking for their defense leading to a pick. And then ND fumbles and they were actually going to call it incomplete (had Indy recovered) but changed it back to a football play because it led to even more yards for the Irish. This really makes football hard to watch. Also, Indy should be passing more. Their offense looks like ours. Forcing the run. Play action and their qb would have all day to throw. Instead, he's 1-6 because they're waiting to throw in obvious passing situations. Enjoy more of the same, Fernando, if you even make the cut.

I am already annoyed at the post hoc analysis "should Indiana have been in the playoffs" analysis. One, they would never ask this question of a blown out SEC school. Two, you EARN your way into the playoffs based on your results not on the basis of who sportsheads think "look better," or compare to SEC schools with more losses, or on best matchups or most competitive games. The goal isn't getting good TV games, it is to create an unbiased, non-subjective criteria or path to determining the national championship. But no, the honks want 4 SECs school in each year because that conference is just so darn good.

There was always a good argument that Alabama or one of the other SEC teams was probably a "better" team on a pure talent level and would be favored over some of the last few teams to get picked.

But ultimately it's hard to really feel bad about a 3-loss team that got left out. Especially one that lost to Vanderbilt. They got at least two second chances to earn their way in and couldn't do it.

so far both first round games have been duds. hot take, maybe we don't actually need to see a 6/11 matchup in CFB

There will be an upset in one of these games at some point. Don't know when, but it'll happen.

Honestly, I think SMU could have been competitive in this game, but their turnovers have been killing them.

I thought I would be glued to my TV with the NFL and CFP on at the same time.

And while I did spend 30 minutes watching both games in multiview (thanks YouTube TV), I'm basically bored with both games, even though Chiefs-Texans is actually competitive.
