Maybe he has a decent NIL setup but I think he is nuts to stick around, maybe Bryan Harsin told him if we don't get a QB we run wildcat all year with him behind center (and I even prefer Javian Thomas as the speed back at this point), if he is married to Cal that is great but I don't want him to be ****ed later in his career because of this move

Solid oline? Good oline coach? I've heard that before.

This hurts Otts chances at going high in draft and maybe even going pro. We shall see.
Ultimately tho, I'm really happy he's back. More so is that he is true to love Cal, his fans and his team. But it's just a wonderful thing to see loyalty in a player amongst a time when loyalty is all but gone. Ott your the man! Will be rooting for you!

All the chips go into this final season. It's win big or go away, for Wilcox. I really don't want to extend him a couple more years unless we win the ACC championship but I know if we get to that game, they're gonna give him another 4 years. When you look at a guy like Harbaugh, that's a winner who makes a difference wherever he goes. I can guarantee with Hairball at the helm, we'd have played in the ACC title game this year, at least (given our personnel), Mendoza would be coming back, along with Ott and everyone else we wanted, and we'd be pulling in recruits and transfers at will, along with a lot more loose wallets from well-heeled alums. Wilcox is, and has been, holding this program back from greatness. All of the changes he's made on offense, FINALLY may be the difference maker for him, if he allows them to operate independently of his nonsense, passive, scared-to-win approach to football. Just hoping that's the case, and we can finally have a great season. The pieces are there (minus one big QB and competent backup). We should be putting together a strong list of Wilcox replacements right now, however. Young, hungry, successful coaches who will motivate the players, fans and donors. They're out there, and available for less the 5MM per year.
Disagree completely. Last month has been a whirlwind of riches for offense and for the line. These aren't buddies from Texas or way-past-their-prime offensive coordinators. I feel like a concerted effort has been made to completely transform the offense, especially where it matters. Time will tell. It's all or nothing for Wilcox in 2025.alarsuel said:
" We are putting together a solid oline with a great oline coach" Based on what, precisely? I'm thrilled Ott is back, and this was always happening once he played in the bowl game, but nothing we've seen in damn near a decade should indicate JW and his staff hirings & offensive recruiting is anything but unserious.
Pretty sure that Harsin made the hires of Anae and Cefalo and signed off on Rollo. JW hired Harsin.alarsuel said:

We are putting together a solid oline with a great oline coach, we have a favorable schedule in conference of lesser defenses. He was injured and draft stock and likely NIL stock was way down. He loves Cal. He wants an elite degree. I think it's smart decision. Go Bears
