Let's gooooo!!! This is the best news we all could have hoped for.
Ott is going to go down in history as one of the most beloved golden bears ever!

We need to return the favor for his loyalty by filling up CMS every gameday and supporting Ott and all our bears.

Ott 4 Heisman 2025!

Maybe he has a decent NIL setup but I think he is nuts to stick around, maybe Bryan Harsin told him if we don't get a QB we run wildcat all year with him behind center (and I even prefer Javian Thomas as the speed back at this point), if he is married to Cal that is great but I don't want him to be ****ed later in his career because of this move

We are putting together a solid oline with a great oline coach, we have a favorable schedule in conference of lesser defenses. He was injured and draft stock and likely NIL stock was way down. He loves Cal. He wants an elite degree. I think it's smart decision. Go Bears

Solid online? Good online coach? I've heard that before. I doubt we make strides in that area. Have yet to really see it with dummy as HC.
This hurts Otts chances at going high in draft and maybe even going pro. We shall see.
Ultimately tho, I'm really happy he's back. More so is that he is true to love Cal, his fans and his team. But it's just a wonderful thing to see loyalty in a player amongst a time when loyalty is all but gone. Ott your the man! Will be rooting for you!

Ott is going to have as good a season as his body allows. We're going to have a potent rushing attack and there are going to be enough touches for both Ott and Jet to shine. If Jaydn is as healthy in 2025 as he was in 2023, I bet he gets drafted.

He already was, but this cements Jadyn as a Cal legend. Hope he can stay healthy next year plus improved Oline play to have the 1,000+ yard season that eluded him this year.

After the year he had, I'd imagine his draft stock fell quite a bit. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was a Day 3 or even went undrafted. Coming back was the smart move.

All the chips go into this final season. It's win big or go away, for Wilcox. I really don't want to extend him a couple more years unless we win the ACC championship but I know if we get to that game, they're gonna give him another 4 years. When you look at a guy like Harbaugh, that's a winner who makes a difference wherever he goes. I can guarantee with Hairball at the helm, we'd have played in the ACC title game this year, at least (given our personnel), Mendoza would be coming back, along with Ott and everyone else we wanted, and we'd be pulling in recruits and transfers at will, along with a lot more loose wallets from well-heeled alums. Wilcox is, and has been, holding this program back from greatness. All of the changes he's made on offense, FINALLY may be the difference maker for him, if he allows them to operate independently of his nonsense, passive, scared-to-win approach to football. Just hoping that's the case, and we can finally have a great season. The pieces are there (minus one big QB and competent backup). We should be putting together a strong list of Wilcox replacements right now, however. Young, hungry, successful coaches who will motivate the players, fans and donors. They're out there, and available for less the 5MM per year.

All JW has to do - and remember - is what gave him all of the success he enjoyed as DC at Boise and at Wisconsin: Coach DEFENSE, and let the offensive experts coach OFFENSE. It's not that hard. You've done it before, Justin. Remember? At every place where you've experienced [great] success. Just do THAT.

" We are putting together a solid oline with a great oline coach" Based on what, precisely? I'm thrilled Ott is back, and this was always happening once he played in the bowl game, but nothing we've seen in damn near a decade should indicate JW and his staff hirings & offensive recruiting is anything but unserious.

Disagree completely. Last month has been a whirlwind of riches for offense and for the line. These aren't buddies from Texas or way-past-their-prime offensive coordinators. I feel like a concerted effort has been made to completely transform the offense, especially where it matters. Time will tell. It's all or nothing for Wilcox in 2025.

Pretty sure that Harsin made the hires of Anae and Cefalo and signed off on Rollo. JW hired Harsin.

It's just great to have some good news and optimism as a Cal fan again. Ott may have made this choice for his own reasons, (wanting to get his degree, wanting to spend another year at a place he loves, NIL deal, draft stock, etc.) but in the portal era it's just great to see a guy stuck it out to cement their status as a California Legend.

I don't know what next year holds, and I'm past the point of giving Wilcox any benefit of the doubt until he proves he deserves it, but we added a lot of size on the OL, an OL coach who I think could be very good, and some guys with the standing and system to actually run a real offense despite Wilcox. At the very least, if things get really bad next year I can root for Jaydn to become the all-time leading rusher in California history (I believe he's about 1300 yards away) and to remain undefeated in Big Games

He was banged-up, and maybe still would be recovering during the NFL combine. Now that players are being paid, another year is a viable alternative while he attempts to improve his draft stock. He likely knows a lot more about what is going on with Cal and the Portal than we know. There may be also other personal reasons that are involved- just speculating, but he is a good student and getting his degree matters, and he is a team leader. This doesn't seem are far fetched as it initially sounded to me. Whatever was his calculation, glad to have him back.

Lol, why go pro if you r getting paid to go to college and pro will not be fruitful. in fact, he may disappear forever in the pro ranks but if he stays and repeats what he did as a sophomore, over his career hell regain, the lost money as each year they pay more than the last and over 5-10 years hell make just as much. if he has an incredible senior season hell make way MORE

GOING PRO NOW WOULD BE IDIOTIC AS HE HAS ZERO HEAT ASSOCIATED WITH HIS NAME. ANY HEAT IN HIS SENIOR YEAR MAKES THIS THE BETTER CHOICE. SMART MOVE.

Can't disagree with anything you say. But I would add one other reason to stay. The old OC is GONE. He
lacked almost all creativity at play calling. Constantly sent Ott into the teeth of defenses that were specifically designed to stop HIM. When he received screen passes there was little or no blocking support for him.

One of the few creative plays I saw was the two-point conversion against Stanford following the final Cal TD. The shovel pass was superb but again there was little O-line support. Ott crashed the line and fought off two (or three) Stanford tacklers for the two point conversion

IMO Ott should do well with the new OC and offensive staff
