What a difference a month (and the portal) make!

I'd put good money on a 7-6 run and the Rinky Dink Bowl in Paducah and a 3 year con tract extension.

IMO the entire Fernando chaos may have had a major silver lining
1. Until then Wilcox showed he could recruit a good defense. But was a flop at recruiting good QB's and offense.
2. Fernando's history showed that Wilcox could find a diamond in the rough QB and get him to the position that he became a hot item in the Portal.
3. Hopefully Brown and JKS will cement Cal's position as a MAJOR steppingstone for other QBs who are looking at improving their status as starters in CFB (JKS?) or in the Pros (Brown).
4. The next step would be for Wilcox to show that Cal can improve a QBs recruiting status in the Pros (like a Davis Webb) so that we don't keep losing our best QBs

IMO recruiting top QB candidates helps enormously in recruiting top Offensive players in other positions

Pretty optimistic considering Wilcox hasn't won 7+ games since back in 2019.

I think there is one potential change that is flying under the radar. Harsin and Rolo are both former successful head coaches. I hope (and expect) they will help Wilcox improve as a coach, particularly his game management. We can focus on all the personnel changes, but unless Wilcox improves, Cal is likely to again underachieve the talent on its roster.

Relatedly, I think the new OL and wr coaches are upgrades. Technically Bloesch was a good OL coach but he wasn't fully dedicated to that, so I'll call it an upgrade.
