I'm predicting a 9 win season this year. But will Cal fans be unhappy if they have to acknowledge that coaches with non-Berkeley political views helped the team have a great season? No, because it is illegal for Cal fans to be happy.

I think even that number is high. I get the overall perception, and I guess, to some degree reality of Berkeley liberalism.sycasey said:
No more than 10% of the fans give a s*** about the coaches' political orientation.
Yeah, I tried to shoot for the highest realistic estimate. It is probably really much lower than that.mbBear said:I think even that number is high. I get the overall perception, and I guess, to some degree reality of Berkeley liberalism.sycasey said:

But there are campus Republicans, conservative interest groups, etc. because of the size of the campus.
And educationally, how many majors have so little to do with political leanings? Highly doubt the chem labs are discussing Trump policies or Engineering lectures worrying about the Administration's next move.
I don't think winning comes down to political orientation. I do think sports are a great opportunity for everyone to be united behind something that isn't political.
I think worrying about Rolo is just another way for random posters to find something more to hate about Wilcox, and/or to hold against him.

Right on. Politics suck and the truth is there is very little any of us can do on a macro scale unless you are obscenely wealthy. My boss "urged" me to buy a seat at a table in 2020 for a then President Trump fundraiser (firm bought a bunch of tables comprised of 10 persons/each). I did it it both because I liked the candidate's platform and wanted tranquility in the workplace. Last time I do anything like that!! The big $ (whomever or whatever they are) behind both parties control the country and the political platforms. So, much more fun to root for the Bears!! Still plan on watching the Bears compete in the Rose Bowl before I die; maybe this year!!GivemTheAxe said:dmh65 said:

Disagree.
One of my best friends is a Republican and a Trump supporter. I am a Progressive Democrat
He and I agree about only one thing we each love
Cal.
When the presidential election comes around, we each want Cal to go to a New Year's Day bowl game more than we want our respective presidential candidate to win.

When it comes to Cal football:
"Just win, Baby"
