According to Pete Nakos (transfer portal reporter for on3) on Twitter Jack is "expected to enter the transfer portal.

Does not make a lot of sense to me...Is CFB singularly about $$$? Endries is TE1, an important part of the offense, and could potentially earn a Cal degree...

We could see more as players realize its a lame-duck year for the Wilcox staff, with Ron obviously clearing house after the season barring some miraculous (aka not happening) season.

The category of players most likely to choose more money over the best situation are those who can make a lot right now but have slim or no chance of an NFL (or NBA) career. It sounds strange, but players in that category might make more money now than at any time after they turn 25.

it sucks, nothing to hold anyone?

tampering, has to happen, someone calls someone and tells them they heard that xyz needs a tight end and will pay well ... informal contact made, big bucks, etc

and so it goes .. I know that there is not supposed to be tampering, but there is not supposed to be any betting on games by players or fixing games for money, but we know iit happens,

many of these students are unsophisticated and are not rich, so dangle more than chump change in front of them and they are yours .. not for life, just until the next better offer comes along

Not a thing. If true, makes sense to get paid as much as possible before going pro. Pass catching TEs are very valuable

A lot of turnover at the WR and TE positions is not too surprising when you turnover your offensive staff. Maybe the new staff wants bigger TEs to block in the run game? Endries is a prototypical "inside receiver" in an Air Raid scheme. We will see where he ends up.

Exactly right. This needs to be fixed. There's a reason the pros don't allow a pure free-for-all on all players every year.

He is currently in his 3rd year at Cal with two years of eligibility left after redshirting in 2022. I knew someone that graduated in 3 years but they did not play major college football and had to get special permission to have more than 20 units every semester. We had to drag him away from his studying Saturday nights at midnight. Two years of summer classes might help but if he transfers I am sure he is going to want to join his new team ASAP. I'm skeptical, but major kudos if he pulls it off. I know we will miss him.

Remember former Cal basketball player Jordan Mathews?
He graduated in 3 years and then transferred to Gonzaga. Recruited by Monty, liked playing for Monty, didn't like playing for Cuonzo Martin, so he finished his degree early and joined the Zags.

True, good example, but note he had to take 6 classes to graduate before transferring to Gonzaga in the Fall (with a scholarship agreement).

I would think Endries would want to join his new team ASAP, especially this summer.

However, the transfer rules and requirement for in person instruction are much relaxed since Mathews transfered. Endries might be able to finish up his degree requirements at Cal with online coursework.

Good student who are athletes tend to be able to finish early because they are enrolled early and spend summers taking classes in order to be at school and weight train. They basically are their sport at the college all year. The players who are staying either take few courses their last year or take grad courses. The school that really has taken a beating on this is Furd which has seen massive departures to the Portal of 3 year grad transfers. Taylor's attempt to slow down matriculation was not looked upon kindly by the Furd administration. Point being Cal has plenty of athletes that can and do graduate early.

This has been going on for years since the rules were changed allowing "registered active students" to receive room and board benefits, with full access to training facilities. Crazy not to take full advantage of.

Add credit for HS AP classes and some students enter college nearly sophomores.

Wilcox doesn't have a clue about what's going on with the team. He's just an all-around failure. He has to go, and sooner than later.

It is different now. If you take AP classes in high school, you can take the AP tests and if you score high enough you can usually get credits toward graduation and even fulfill prerequisites sometimes. Some kids enter with virtually a year's worth of credits in the bank. Add summer classes and you can chop a year off without taking more than a normal load each semester. With college costs and kids more motivated to start their lives earlier, a lot of students are graduating early.

It's not even a new thing, I was an idiot and finished my major in 3 years and when graduated I had over 168 credits (minimum to graduate was 120), I even wasted my last year on classes for a minor which I quickly abandoned and realized years later I could have gotten another degree if I wasn't too busy partying and going to football games

Ott started in and got the most carries in 10 games. In the 3 that he missed, The Jet got the most carries in 2, Caldwell in 1.

The prior year The Jet was 5th among RBs in carries despite leading the team in yards per carry.

By "new", understand that calumnus and I are old. Some might say really old as it has been well over 30 years since either of us were in college. AP tests weren't a thing for us. Back then you had to graduate in 3 by jamming 4 years of study into 3.

It's also kind of clear that many schools want to encourage you leaving ASAP. I think if UC's could just validate 32 AP classes and send you on your way the first week, they'd consider it. I'm joking, but barely.

And I was trying to be nice to calumnus in not emphasizing this has been a thing for quite a while.

The universities like getting students who have already made significant progress toward their degree because students who arrive at a UC having a whole year's worth of AP credits, or transfer in as a junior, are as a group more likely to graduate from that school than students who start at a UC with zero credits like most of us did way back when.
