Never met Sebastabear, but I just wanted to say thank you to him for providing some hope to Cal fans and to this Cal fan in particular. There are very few who make it into my Mt. Rushbear - I would say Ken the Mic Man started the passion burning for me as an undergrad. Teddy obviously built on that. There have been perhaps a couple more along the way, but most of the time in between has been filled with absolutely frustrating personal dealings with uninterested ADs, losing teams, marginal coaches and uninspired marketing and sales staff. For the last year or two, I've been at my lowest Cal Love level for my 50+ years. For the first time in so long, Sebastabear has moved the needle.

It is one thing to donate money (I personally love seeing $10 donated from someone who perhaps can't afford it just as much as I love to see $50,000+ drop in, although we know the huge importance of big dollars now more than ever), but it is another thing to donate along with putting your absolute heart and soul into a supreme and supremely successful fundraising effort like this one. I'm guessing the effort we see from Sebastabear is probably only 5% of the actual work he has put in. I salute you, Sebastabear. You can take tomorrow off, but I suppose we all know you won't.

Made a small donation today. I'd like to echo Calfan92 in thanking Sebastabear and all others involved in making this fundraising drive so successful. My enthusiasm was at a nadir when the season ended, but Ron at the helm and the amount of donor enthusiasm displayed during this short campaign has injected some optimism. As always, I'll be rooting for Cal every game, win or lose.

What a lovely message. Thank you so much. Although I'm compelled to note, I am just one of the people working on this project. Lots of folks trying to finally set this program on the correct course, including a number of those on this message board.

Getting closer for sure.

Why do I have a more expensive iPhone than Ron Rivera, who is many, many, many times richer than me?

Maybe he is richer than you BECAUSE he doesn't buy expensive iphones

His last job paid him $35 million.

An expensive phone to him is like me spending money on an espresso.

Also, if he's gonna be Cal's GM, he should have a phone with 3 lenses.

Rather than the appearance of wealth, perhaps Ron prefers real wealth.

Real wealth is going 98 yards with your boys.

I'm not asking him to wear a Rolex.

It's a matter of function, not status.

Besides, most people put their iPhones in cases, so it's hard to know exactly what model a person has.

But...

Ron's iPhone has a notch.

The iPhone 14, released in 2022, was the last regular iPhone model* to have a notch.

(His phone might actually be an iPhone 13 Mini, released in 2021.)

*In February, Apple released a budget iPhone 16e, which has a notch.

But I'm assuming Ron doesn't have a new budget iPhone.

In 2022, Apple introduced the dynamic island with the iPhone 14 Pro.

Beginning with the iPhone 15, released in 2023, the dynamic island became standard with all models. (Except the 16e.)

So, like, who cares?

Well, Ron is now the GM at Cal. He should have a newer model of iPhone, one with better all-day battery life and three lenses to better capture what is going on in the Cal football program. An iPhone 16 Pro. (Or 15 Pro or 14 Pro.)

If I can afford it, he can afford it.

(Disclaimer: A month ago, I had an iPhone 11 Pro Max, which I bought in 2020. Now I have an iPhone 16 Pro. I don't upgrade phones every year.)

They are basically the same size.

If Ron has a 13 Mini, it has an even worse battery life.

Probably what Jim Knowlton gave him for his work phone.

That would be sad.

I love my iPhone 12 mini. Looks a like my phone. Bought it used about 2-3 years ago, just like I have bought every other iPhone I bought ever since buying my first brand new 3G.

Could I afford a better/newer one? Sure, just like I could afford a better/newer one of most things I refuse to buy. I love refusing to buy the newest thing just because it's new. If it makes my life easier, sure. But a newer one won't. Maybe Ron and I are similar.

Don't get me wrong. I love small iPhones. I have an old SE 2 and an iPhone Mini 13, (which I use as a "robbery" phone when I walk in the dark. My new neighborhood is relatively safe, but also has the potential of being very unsafe). But if Ron is gonna be GM, he'll need a more robust phone (unless, he has several iPhones, too)

To each his own. For me, the type of phone Ron has does not rank in my Top 100 things that need to be addressed regarding fixing Cal Football.

Okaydo has finally removed the mask and shown his true purpose here: a years' old guerrilla marketing campaign by Apple.
